Well had a gen 1 back in the day and sold it in a week as i was using it in my band and the guys wanted to kill me as it was my main rig and did not really spend the time to dial it in. Now that i have amps out the ass i said F it. Found a NEW gen one in the box ! Dont ask me how but i did. Going to spend some time with it and boost it with a few OD pedals and see how it goes. I am a big dime fan and think it is a cool show piece any how. Look cool with the X2 |

well guys have a first gen warhead next to a X2 and next to my rg100es xp out of a mesa recto 4x12 with v 30 speakers. to ME sound and gain wise. first place gen 1 with mt2, second xp with mt2,and last of all the x2. the first gen has a razor tone and has some thing the others don't. I must say that the xp has a tighter gain out of the three.. Just so ya no not trying for the pantera thing just high gain!!! |

The x2 just sounds like a mess . Also you cant boost it with effects ect. But like i said im going for high gain tube kind of tone. Im comparing all of then to mesa mark 4 and engl heads ect. The xp boosted i would play live hands down and wound not be weary of what the band would think. The guys bust my balls because im always trying out amps and tone |

You should demo a riff or two of each amp if you can. I am quite interested in what your x2 sounds like, personally i think it's the daddy of the dime amps. |

dude its far from the daddy if you no what tone is or maybe its just me but ill get on that just for you. But i will be boosting the gen 1 and xp the x2 cant be boosted as it has its own sound if you want to call it that. just so you are aware i will not be playing dime riffs just my own stuff.. I don't buy amps to sound like other people. |

What do you mean by you can't boost an x2 ?
Yeah if you an record stuff that's great does not have to be dime stuff either i was just curious on the tone differences you're getting. Also what guitar / pick up / speakers do you use ? |

That's funny how different people like different things , I could NOT stand my 1st GEN. Warhead , nothing but MIDS...the Xp, I have heard the Rg's are more liked by folks who own both...Just my preference but I like the Rg with the main or Heart of the effects, just like Dime did Furman, 6 band, MXR Flang/Dub , preferred 1st , then the X2 but maybe you had a LEMON ? There were a lot of messed up X2's & I just sold my 1 Gen. Warhead , cuz just like Dime said it was only good for Clean channels...but hey if you can get a lil sumpin' sumpin' out that Amp, More power to ya Brotha! |

It seems you keep saying (DIMES THIS AND THAT) Im not after that just high gain CUT YOUR HEAD OFF BRUTAL TONE!! with boost pedals ect. The X2 i feel he would just laugh at The first gen that i have has no pull knob and needs a boost big time! but when boosted sounds sick!! guys on seven string rave about em for metal |

To be Honest I almost & still might sell my X2 one day so you got me all wrong, as I said my "main Rig" is the Rg and the main effects he used...I have not played my X2 in a bit actually But compared to the First , yeah it does blow it away ...I guess just a matter of opinion...But I thought u wanted his tone , I was confused & just trying to Help ya buddy , cuz you mentioned just about everything he used so just thought I would help, but Good Luck finding the Tone you want friend
TRUST ME when I say I know TONE!!! I have heard the Maxon with the 1ST Gen, does not sound bad at all & I think the X2 just might be too Digital to for you, yeah but I can get some good sounds out of it , not as good as the Rg/ES tho! X2 is not for everyone , I have mixed opinions on it & my CHUGS have to be PERFECT , so even with the Maxon , I still think it needs a little more , the 1st GEN....Which is why I said get an 2 Old Randalls ABY splitter, Furman , MXR Flang/Dub, Blue 6 band & you might find what u are looking for , but that's Dimes tone & u want something different , try a KRANK, ain't too bad either, I was just saying if u want Dimes tone, so excuse the confusion when I read right through your paragraph friend KRAKENSTEIN & REV are good buy have to be dialed JUST PERFECT!!! |

If you're not after dime sound then try different amps there are plenty out there. There are some seriously good amps for the money at the moment. You've got the blackstar lot, laney ironheart, the EVH III, mesa might be something you'll want to try ? |

As of other amps like i said i have a mesa mark 4 WITCH SLAYS. Engl savage, engl fireball 100, and a duel rec. I mess with solid state amps to and have my rg and warhead sounding great for my playing.. Tell you what the x2 is louder that the gen 1. |
