Hi all.
I just bought my 2nd dean.Ive been playing for 40 years and own a Gibson 69 goldtop deluxe and a Gibson 42 L-7 and my 2 Deans.A Performer/VS (archtop) i have owned for 3 years no longer in production and my new Evo special select quilted top. http://www.stevesmusiccenter.com/DeanEvoSelectVS.html
I paid only $270.00 for it used.I think the person might have had it overnight or something and the dealer was forced to sell half price after that. The guitar is friggin awsome.I love it and my wife is jealous.(as it should be) hehehe.
my question OR Opinion of this guitar is this>>
Is it me or what?? I dont know but i think the Evo special select plays just as sweet as my 69LP.My LP it was last appraised @ $5,000.00 it is pristine and i have owned it since i was 13 years old.I am 49 now.
Anyone else have an opinion on the Dean Evo special select?I sure would like to hear it.I never expected it to be this good.Maybe i just got lucky and got a "jem". |

Welcome to the Forum. Good to hear that you've found that guitar that meshes well with you.
I've got an eVo Premium from the Czech Republic factory and it's a great guitar. Very comfortable, great construction, great feel and great tone. |

Ive heard the Czech Evo's are superior to the Korea models mine was built in 2004 according to the serial number. It does make me wonder how they can make a PRS,Epiphone,Gibson and fender in the very same factory.(Cort)So now at this date and time it makes me wonder if it makes a difference what you buy as far as quality is concerned. |

I think the country of manufacture is a good point of reference, but is not the be-all/end-all for the decision making process.
There are guitars manufactured in Korea that are amazing and there are guitars made "by hand" in the USA that are polished turds. And the opinion of one or more people are still opinions, not facts, and it all boils down to what feels good to the individual player.
Regardless of the country of manufacture or the cost of the instrument, my level of talent allows me to make each and every one of them sound like a piece of garbage. It's my special skill. |
