I haven't been around in a while, so sorry if this has been discussed in the past, but anybody have any experience with Orange Micro Terrors? They look like cool little amps, hopefully I'll get to try one out soon. Just wondering if there were any thoughts based on experience...

Solid state power amp with a 12ax7 in the preamp, 20 watts. For what they are, it's a cool little amp and gets seriously loud. It sounds decent through the matching 1x8, sounds much better through a 12" speaker.

Haven't played the micro terror but own a dual terror. If the voicing for them is at all similar the micro terror should be pretty killer. I've played a few of the tiny terrors too and they are great little amps too. I'm a big fan of Orange though.

Cool, thanks guys. I have always wanted an Orange, but can't really justify throwing down that much jack to be a basement warrior. Having a nice little rig that will scream would be fun to throw tunes around on, and perhaps do some home recording. Some of their combos can be had for a reasonable price though... The micro looks like a good value.

It definitely has the Orange vibe. I haven't played a Tiny Terror, I do own the Micro Terror and like it. Like I said earlier, it sounds a little boxey through the 1x8 but still sounds good. It really opens up through 12" speakers. The way I look at it, it's only 50 bucks more than the 15 watt line 6 and sounds much, much better. If you like Orange amps you should like the Micro Terror. Don't go tossing out your Rockerverb for one, but it's a nice bedroom/practice amp.

It definitely has a tempting price. I'd want to run it through a 1x12", but also have a 4x12" cabinet (which all reviews state that it can more than handle). Thanks again for the comments.

It can definitely drive a 4x12 no problem. A 1x12 will do just fine though.

It's really important that you realize the micro, tiny, etc are different from the dual terror, dark, single, or the discontinued 100 watt models. Completely different thing. Yeah you can save some bucks and buy the name but that's what you are doing unless you buy one of the oranges that are all tube.

I have one. It's a proper amp, and not a toy. It does sound lame through the stock 1x8. But it sounds killer through a 1x12 or bigger. I've run it through 4x12's too. It really shines with a good overdrive out in front. Yeah, it's not a rockerverb, but is a good little amp. And it's loud enough to wake the neighbors.

The problem is you're comparing it to amps that cost 5, even 10 times as much. Last time I checked, a 100 watt Rockerverb was around 2 grand. Hell, a Tiny Terror is around 500 bucks. The Dual, Dark and Jim Root Terrors start a little over 600. The Micro is 149. Not really a fair comparison. Like Brad and I stated earlier, through a proper cab it sounds great. It's also plenty loud enough to piss off your neighbors.

I would like to try one out myself, as well as a few other Orange amps.

My wife purchased it for me over the holidays. I told her not to get the little dippy speaker, as I have a ton of cabs. When I fired it up on a tweed closed back 1x12 with a Greenback in it, she was shocked that the little sucker sounded as loud and as good as it did. Its a proper amp. I've jammed wiith it. And recorded with it. And I took it down to DOA with a Krank 1x12 for doing pedal demos and clinics. I even used it to practice my bass parts for the DOA jam, and it sounds absolutely killer for bass with a nice growling overdrive sound. And that Krank 1x12 handles 100 watts and is built like brick shithouse, so it can handle the bass frequencies from that 20 watt head. My standard amp in my practice room is an Egnater Tweaker 15 with that same Greenback loaded 1x12. I will say that the Egnater sounds better overall, and has greater tonal flexibility with very clean tones, and killer lead tones without any pedals. And the Micro Terror has only a few good tones mostly in the overdriven realm. But all in all, the Micro Terror is just a good fun amp.

Yep no doubt. Totally agree. Just wanted to make sure he knows that although it is a cool amp- it is a lot different and is indeed in that 149 range. I've seen people get caught up in the Orange name thing and expect more than what it really is.

If you take it for what it is, it's a fun little amp that is capable of some decent tones with a little bit of Orange vibe. True there are better amps out there, but for it's size and price range you could do a lot worse.

Hmmm, I think I'll buy one of these and pair it with my Krank 1x12. Sounds like a pretty good combo to put in my living room. It'll be an upgrade over the 15w Randall practice amp I'm using now.
