Guess I'll hold off on restringing the geets until April! I like their cobalt strings (they sound massive!) so I'll definitely look into these too. I wonder if anyone's gonna be able to get their hands on the strings a bit earlier and give us a review. |

Not trying to Change the Thread but since we know the strings are coming out, what are some of your guys preferences? I like D'Addario, anywhere from a .009 to up to 46...& then , your Answers? |

Ive used Ernie Ball 10-52 for over 4 years now. Cobalts are my favorite string so far, but these look really interesting. |

I use Cobalt 12-56. Before that I used EB coated 12-56 and before that I used the regular EB 12-56. I have tried and like other strings, just not as much as EBs. I'm sure I'll switch over to these as a natural progression. |

I too have tried and like other strings, but I always go back to EB's. Now that's all I use and I will try these new ones too. I even have a Ernie Ball clock in my jam room. |

I still haven't tried the colbalts because it only stands to reason that cobats are harder than fret wire and the would cause an increase in wear, faster. A lot fo guys like the sound but man - refretting is REAL expensive. |

I have been going strong for about a year (since they came out) and haven't had any fret wear issues. I dunno if that means anything but it's been Kool and the Gang for me with Cobalts. |

These look promising. Maybe they will come out with a Cobalt wrapped M-steel someday soon.
LOVE the sound of the Cobalt, but they broke way to easy for me (Thinner core wire vs. non-cobalt).
Hope these sound as good as other strings (again, a Cobalt wrapped version would be the best I can imagine).
I'll give them a solid try out, but till then, I'm sticking with my D'Addarios. They have lasted the longest with me, and save for the Cobalts, I haven't found anything that sounds better. |

I have been an EB guy for a long time (1980ish). I have tried others
but always went back.....now I use EB exclusively! Love the Cobalts
and talked with Sterling Ball about the new strings for about an hour....can't wait for them to come out. |

For those that get to talk with EB (and it sounds like that includes several here) Please ask them NOT to make us wait for another year, and just start making the M-Steel+Cobalts now please! |

The M-Steel wound strings ARE cobalt wrapped with maraging cores. The plain ones are maraging steel. |

That's amazing. I have to give these a try. I loved my cobalts but they broke at the bridge which Ive never had happen before. On the wound E no less. |

From Ernie Ball;
"The company's latest Slinkys model uses a defense grade alloy, maraging steel, to provide increased strength and durability compared to traditional guitar string wire and has been specifically developed to provide a more break resistant string.
In addition, M-Steel strings are proven to have increased tensile strength while maintaining additional output, increased clarity and fatigue resistance. The wound strings are comprised of a patented Cobalt alloy wrapped around maraging steel hex core wire. M-Steel plain strings feature a patented winding of Cobalt around the ball end of the string which reduces slippage, breakage and stays in tune better than conventional plain strings." |

Called them and they said these strings will cost about 12 bucks. Also these strings have a m-steel core and a cobalt wrap. They also said that the strings have rps wrap style by the ball. Lastly they said that they will be out in June. |
