If you know your guitar history, then you know all about Alvin Lee and Ten Years After. He died from complications during surgery. Here he is ripping that 335 apart at Woodstock in 1969. He was WAY ahead of his time as a player.

Heard this earlier, he was a great player for sure.
RIP Alvin |

I did as well.
I can remember the first time I saw the movie and was floored by his playing. Hendrix got all the attention.. but Alvin was great as well. |

I was really shocked when I heard about this. He was in NYC about a month ago, and I was going to see him. Unfortunately, that was the weekend of the big snowstorm, so I was unable to go anywhere.
RIP to a guitar legend. |

OKK, now I don't want to hear how great you think "I'd Love to Change the World" is. Go listen to One of these Days, Good Morning Little Schoolgirl, or As The Sun Still Burns away. Then I know you were a true fan. |

My dad was actually at Woodstock, and when I was a kid and just getting into guitar I asked him what it was like seeing Hendrix perform there. His answer was "Hendrix was cool, but man that Alvin Lee. He was the one who blew us away." |

Yep, even Hendrix said in an article that it was the first time an opening act blew his own band away (at Woodstock). Alvin Lee was a monster for his time
RIP to another Legend gone
Gotta agree with you Felice, those are kickass songs |

Read this yesterday. Really bummed out about it. Heck of a player. He was a big influence on me as a kid. Bought a red es-335 because of him. |
