Thoughts on Peavey Vypyr 15?

I have owned my Bugera 6260 for a few years now and I still think its great, however I recently set up a fish tank in my room and I noticed yesterday after jamming some of my fish were quite pale and seemed stressed, I wasnt really playing very loud but I think it may have upset them. I just tested again today and as soon as I started playing the same fish all darted to the back of the tank and went pale.

So im considering trading it for something a little quieter, and was looking at the Roland Cube series (I used to have a micro cube) and the Peavey Vypyr range, specifically the 15 watt model. What is the general consensus about these amps? I mainly play Melodic Death Metal and Thrash, will this little amp handle that sort of stuff ok? I always run a boost up front with a noise gate anyway so gain shouldn't be a problem, im more concerned about tone and the little 8" speaker. Ive heard nice youtube demos of the Vypyr series (mainly the 30 watt version though) but actual feedback is always better.

Also been thinking about the Vox VT20+ if anyone has tried that?

Poor little fish! Ive tried the 15 watt vyper combo in GC before. Surprised me on how well it sounded.

If you think about it, you will still be trying to get the same level of volume so it makes no difference whether its a 15w amp or a 100w amp, the fish will suffer irregardless

Sweet, better than the Line 6 stuff? (I have a Toneport for recording).

Not really, the Bugera is a 120w tube amp in a 2x12 setup, even with the volume on 0 its has a deep booming sound when you play. If I had a small amp with a single 8" speaker this wouldnt happen. I do believe its mainly the bass causing the problem, I switched to clean and it didnt seem to bother them, it was the br00talz that made them run away and hide Laughing

In any case I have found a website that lets you return any purchased goods within 7 days for whatever reason, so I figured I could buy the amp and try it out, if it doesnt improve my situation I can simply return it.

I absolutely love my Microcube, I think it's what you're looking for and the portability is a huge plus. I take mine out in the woods, it's great. I had the Vypyr 15 and it was a decent amp but it bugged out on me so it got returned.

Most anythings better than Line 6 IMO. Haha
but yea, I played with the distortion, and it sounded really good. Better than the distortion on the Line 6 stuff for sure..

I would have to agree The Roland Micro Cube kicks butt for a small practice amp and the modeling features are pretty solid. Plus being battery powered I take it to the pool and plug in my mp3 and instant party jams!

I might suggest you try some headphone set up. that mihgt be better for the fish.

You could also face the amp away from teh tank and maybe put something in fron tof the tank as well to isolate any vibrations? the fish are probably feeling vibvration and its amking them feel wierd - remember water travels vibration better than air.
