I'm looking at getting one of these combo amps for home use. Has anyone tried this model? I like the built in power soak. I'm looking to know how it sounds at low volumes.
Thanks.

I like the head version bettter as the stock speakers are kind of "meh", but the 36 is WAY better than the 18 when compared side by side.

yup. get the 36, set it to 1 watt mode [on teh back] adn run it through a quality built 1X12 or 2X12 with good speakers = AWESOME sound with hot tubes at acceptable volumes.

I don't have any cabs so a combo is what I'd like to get. The 36 is above my spending limit. The 18 would be the one.

Are there better combo options with similar features to the 18 but sound better?

this.

I love my 36. If you don't have any cabs, but have a mixer/recording capabilities with XLR, you can set it to the no speaker setting and run an XLR from the head to the mixer and use headphones.

I found mine on ebay for 750. The deals are out there, just gotta keep your eyes open for them.

I have the 18w head and I'm currently running it through a single 1x12 cab (it's a Krank cab). I run it almost exclusively at 1w and it sounds great!

I had the 18 for a couple weeks. I loved the clean and the crunch sounds, but there was something about the high gain tones I really didn't like. I returned it and picked up a Jet City 22H. While I like this much better, it doesn't sound great at bedroom levels. At band levels it's great, especially for the price.

Maybe I'm looking into the wrong amp.

Any suggestions for a home practice amp that sounds good at low levels?

I was looking for something that sounded great at both bedroom and small gig levels, but I think I've given up. The jet city sounds pretty good at quiet levels and really good at band levels. Even if I send it off to get modded by BFG, it's a great value. BFG's 20lb hammer and Double Deuce mods sound great on YouTube.
