I got my Nitro set up at the rehearsal spot today. Here is a pic of it all set up.
Here is a short video clip I did. I took it with a Fuji point and shoot so not the most HiFi clip. The mic woofs out at times but that's the camera not the amp.
The amp has a bit too much gain but I'm learning to get used to it. In this clip I have the gain on the rhythm setting at only 1/4 of the way up, 9 O' Clock on the dial... Yeah it's really gainy.

The camera doesn't pick up all the tight low end this has. It's a sledgehammer! |

How are you running the EQ/tone stack? that sounds VERY nice, lots of crunch. |

Very simple... Resonance, Presence, Bass, Mid and Treble are all at 12:30. Gain is set 1/4 the way up (yes just 1/4). |

Sounds awesome Lanning. I've been jonesing for a Splawn for a while. The clarity is amazing on those amps. Some guys hate on em cause they don't cover up their crap playing tho like a Mesa will. |

Very cool sounding amp man, yeah that's quite amazing that it's just a smidgen over 12 and you are get that tone out of it.
Hows the eq when it gets higher is it usable all the way up or does it top out at points ? |

I have no idea. I just set it where it sounds good to me and then leave it alone. I don't experiment much. |

That is vicious sounding amp! Is this a characteristic of all Splawn amps??
What speakers are in the cabinet? |

great amp lanning, i loved the nitro. i think you made a great choice and if i remember correctly i think you have el34 in your amp. i always wanted to try the small blocks.
i ran mine with kt88 and splawn cab loaded with v30/k100 speakers and it was pretty cool. i played it live a couple times and it sounded great in a band mix, my quickrods had a little more cut but i liked the nitro the best. |

Splawn Small Block. They are made by Eminence for Splawn and are 55watt Greenback copies.

Yeah I have EL34s in mine. I wanted 88s originally but my rep from Splawn talked me out of it. He said they have had reliability problems with that tube. I dunno what the deal was entirely but I decided to stick with the 34s. |

Eminence huh? No comment, I must say that splawn is a great head, but I still love Celestion speakers, notably the lower wattage ones, because the more pronounced mids. Anyway did you get rid of the JCM800ZW, or do you still have it? |

I dunno if you read what I wrote but they are like the Celestion Greenback but are 55 watt instead of 25 watt. They are Splawn labeled but made by Eminence for Splawn. They sound like a G12M Greenback which is a Celestion loudspeaker. It has that pronounced mid range tone, you can hear it in the video. |

Lanning, like you said about the video, it changes sound. I remember Krank was touting their Eminence speakers as sounding like Celestions, and that was farther than the truth. Ask Kris we both tried that Krankenstein rig out. A friend of mine wanted to sell me his Splawn cabinet, but I kinda balked on that idea because of the speakers. I also watched your videos with the H&K and Marshall, and the Marshall I thought it had a better tone. The H&K was really fizzy sounding, but once again positioning of the video camera will change the actual tone.
Do a few more videos of the Splawn positioning the camera different. I hearing allot of bass and lower mids, and then a ton of highs, so to my ears, it doesn't sound balanced. |

Yeah the camera has a ton to do with it. I don't really wanna do more vids though. I don't care enough to try lol. I'm beyond happy with the tone. I don't need to convince anyone else. There are some awesome bands getting amazing recorded tone with their Nitros. Unearth and Times Of Grace come to mind.
However that being said if you were actually going to buy one based off a video I did then I would. If it's for the sake of this thread then who cares? |

Unfortunately it's not mine to sell so good luck waiting. When they offered me an artist deal at NAMM we used band budget to pay for it which is controlled by my wife. I have to buy it back from the band. She's strict with the budget. It's technically not even mine yet. |

At this rate it's going to have to go gold just to cover Lanning's gear budget! |
