so.. how many pay attention to what's in the control cavity of their guitars??
i'm thinking of rewiring my DOA Caddy to a Jimmy Page LP setup.. i want something really flexible.. and 21 tones from that circuit *just* might do it..
i'm giving some thought to also using NOS Bumblebee caps.. i'm not thinking of getting really snotty like some LP owners, but something that will help bring out some tone.. what have some of you used for caps?? sizes/OEMs.. and how did you wire them up??
i switched to the EMG-HZ H4's.. they are really hot pups.. but, are way bright.. using the stock wiring of the caddy, they are piercingly bright.. i have to turn the tone(s) off to get something somewhat useable..
i've been looking at Tom Holmes pickups.. and i've played a Roswell Rhoades (aluminium) that used one of his PAFs, and they are really nice.. but, not cheap.. this might seem like overkill for a MIK, but i figure that i could always transfer them.. haha, pups that cost more than the guitar they are in!!
anyway.. if all of it falls to shiesse.. i'll just install the setup from the TC3's in it.. |

guitarelectronics.com offers a complete wiring kit for the jimmy page mod (okay, one of them. Each of his guitars is wired a bit different). They used to offer the custom seymour duncan pickups that he uses, but I can't find them on the site anymore.
I've never found much use in having a tone control, myself. I plan on pulling the tone control off both my icon and evo and replacing them with push/pull volume pots. I'll get more use out of separate volumes for each pickup than I will with tone knobs. |

If you are inclined to whip out a calculator and soldering iron, take a look at the following page. There's some circuits and formulae for creating high/low pass filters, and a couple of tone circuits. I'm incorporating the big muff tone circuit in a tube distortion pedal I'm building.
