I love both...I mean you can really dig real deep into this, but the current TC's are VERY close to the early 80's originals, shapewise and featurewise they are identical...

I do however think the current TC's have the better tops hands down!

I mean I could show you a particular example Wink

IMO Vintage.. but, it's the chance that you'll get one with problems.. the TCs are new, covered by warranty..

as for tone, from the few TCs that i've played, they are really nice.. but, from the few Vintage Deans that i've played, there's just something to the vintage tone that is what i'm looking for.. it could just be the old wood, or the pickups.. or the vibe you get from them.. but for me, if i had my choice between the vintage and TCs, i'd really like to have both.. but the vintage would be the ultimate pick.. for me.. IMO..

Vintage..

It's the vibe man Very Happy

Really my new custom and my TC Z smoke all my vintages except for the 1981 flame series ML which sounds killer!

But the PU's I mean you could change them out any time you want, the chances are the wood from the current TC's is just as old as the wood used for the vintage ones I mean for a tree 20 years ain't $hit! Very Happy

I ahve loads of "vintage" DEAN DiMarzio's I took out of my vintage deans laying around here, maybe they come to use one day!

But I would love to own more vintage DEANs in teh future, I love all DEANS!

I've been wondering of late what makes one axe 'better' than the other. I mean, I have my two 'playing axes' at the mo, and I couldn't choose between them. One's practiacally new, the other's 20 years old. Yet I love them both for their differences and individuality.

Vintage.

I think half the fun of owning them is the hunt it takes to find one. You can buy practically any TC you want whenever you want. When you find that perfect vintage for a good deal you know you have a special instrument.

Yep, I still got it. Hanging on the wall in my room as we speak. One of the original Forum members Felice "ElTib" told me about it when I first joined. Called about it, they still had it and it was on my doorstep a week later. It has a very high profile V neck. You can slice bread with the neck its got such a sharp V.
