He states that it is Made in USA, but the serial number says otherwise.

Well, it's not made in 88, but in 84. Whether it's a USA guitar or not I don't think has ever been resolved. There were multiple threads on the old forum debating whether these were USA guitars, with good arguments on both sides of the issue. |

I believe "that Zelinski guy" has said that if it doesn't say "made in USA" then it's not. |

But.....after speaking with Elliott about this very subject, and seeing that they were painted with the same nitro-laquer paint, we believe they are in fact made in the USA. |

How can you tell it's nitro lacquer? |
I made the mistake of trying to touch-up/wet sand/polish in an area on one of these 1984 Baby's with regular paint. I soon learned it was lacquer and didn't blend in too well. |

There is a lot of good stuff in those old posts(not only about the Babys) that if truly lost in cyberspace will be sorely missed.
