Ik posted this clips before...
It's our thrash or at least metal cover of a Dutch drinking song but we haven't added the bass and vokills yet...
I re recorded it with my new TC...I am still not happy with the result since my tone always sounds a lot crappier recorded than when I am standing in front of my amp, guess I have a lot to learn about recording!
But it is better than last time...still nice!

Sounding pretty good Hans! Are you playing the solo also?
Maybe next time you could encode the track with 168 or 192kbps. This 112kbps "cuts" the sound little bit, atlest to me.
Do you have any new clips of your original songs?

If you have enough channels, try using two different mics. A Sure SM57 and SM58 will do. Have each pointing at a different cone. Point the mic at the cone but don't have it perpindicular to the cone, have them at an angle. Moving the mic away from the center of the cone helps too.
Try playing through headphones and have a friend move the mics around a little. It may take some time, but you'll find the sound that you are looking for! |

Yeah but it takes a long to upload...maybe I should it sounds a lot better here over my home stereo...
Yes I play teh solo too (of course HAHAHAH), and yes it is my ENGL POWERBALL....
But like I said I find it hard to record it as it really sounds, I only have a cheap ass mic too..
It's not mastered barely mixed and no EFX at all! |

That's beer drinkin' music for sure!
Very nice Hans. Solo seems a little distant, but it gets a big thumbs up from me for what it's worth.

Try www.rocksolidamps.com seems to be the most reputable ENGL dealer in the US...I think it's $ 1,599 plus $ 159 for the Z-5 footswitch so $ 1758 total..
It's really a KICKass amp, I love it and it's here to stay, it so incredible tight and aggressive, the tone from my clip is OK, but it sounds a lot better in person!
I know Dimmu Borgir uses em now, not that I really care for that kinda music but their CD's sound really good!
Running Wild uses the POWERBALL too |

The song f*cking rocks! But I feel your pain with the crappy mics. We've been using AKG mics and they are pure crap. Every recording we've done hasn't been worth keeping as a result.
And I still think that solo is pretty cool. |

It wasn't terrible at all. My suggestion would be to sit and sample til you start getting what you're after. Then mix that solo in a lil' louder. Hehehe.
Dim3 : Cheers on the Shure advice. I'll be shure to check em out. |

I think the guitars should be a little louder although I love it when the drums cut through big time in a mix...I initially had teh bassdrums much louder too but that didn't sound too good..
Yeah I use teh Shure SM-57 for guitar recording and the RODE NT-1 for vocals and drums overhead...and my Shure LC-16 for the snare and the hi hat...
BUt what I meant was my amp sounds too flat in teh clips, it is much more huge and 3D sounding in real! |

We get pretty good results from recording the drums in at a relitavley low DB compared to the guitars which are laid down normally. Then we crank them in the mix. Drums are cool.
We should have a working Demo by early in the new year. I'll try and post some stuff. |
