I meant to do this last weekend, but was still figuring out how to use the image hosting site that I signed up for. The 3 Z's are vintage, and the years are '79, '80, and '82. The white ML is also vintage...an '82 as well.

Joe/Dana:
So last night I'm over at Steph's and got a chance to play the Turquiose Tropical.
What an amazing sweet piece that thing is.
You guys are both collectively nuts to have parted with it.
Now, this was the first time I ever got my hands on a "tropical" live and in person, and I must say I was definately impressed. I'm not a Floyd freak, by any means, and as a result it wouldn't be my choice, but the rest of the thing was very nice indeed.
Ok, so the shape's a bit off. The neck felt really nice (even though it isn't a V) and by and large the fit & finish was throughly decent, and considering the price even more so.
"Turd" my hiney. This is a really sweet piece.
Floyd or no, I'm in line if Steph ever wants to part with it.
=)
Mike was wondering (and mabye Bloyd would know) how many of these things were built? Anyone have any idea?

Yep, I can't see them either. If it is an ML with Floyd it was a late '95 to early 96. Pre-Armadillo influence. I really have no idea about the actual count of ML/Floyd guitars madesorry, wish I did. |

i've played a few Tropicals.. most of them were nice.. one ML the floyd was "off".. the enitre trem was shifted to the high e side.. the guitar was returned, and it was replaced..
other than the body shapes, and headstock general screwyness.. the logos.. they are pretty nice guitars..
i offered to get the Tropical from Dana, before Steph.. i flaked and Steph got it..
i don't like floyds, so that's why i waivered on it.. really don't like them..
now if someone knows where there is a hardtail Tropical ML, THAT'S something i'd be interested in.. |

Mark, what did you think of that finish? Imagine that with a higher quality quilt, on your customs you're having built!! Wouldn;'t that be sweet!!! At any rate, my Custom "ankh" dean is very similar, but it has a Differant neck profile altogether, more like a Square neck. It alsio has a flame top in braillaburst. Thier quality is EXCELLANT. Now you understand why I get so upset when I hear "turd", they are far from it! I DO kin d of regret seling it, and asked fo dibs if She ever decided to sell, and Dana of course has first dibs, so that puts you in for thirds, ha ha ha! I think it needs some differant pups in it, but the guitar itself is BEAUTIFUL! and NECKTHROUGH! |

I was referring to ones that were actually available..
Putz.
=)
Never played a 335 actually. Had a buddy who was way into em 20 years ago. Was his favorite axe.
Then there's TYA, and holy crap could Alvin wail..

What TF?? The stupid site didn't say anything about a daily limit!! I'm going to try another site and see if I can fix the pics.
Yeah Mark, that guitar is really nice isn't it? That's why Joe and I don't get the "turd" designation at all. My wife wanted me to keep that guitar, but I have too many. I'm trying to move to all USA's, so that one had to go.

I had a Tropical DimeBolt ML and it was a sweet playing axe - the new owner was pleased as puch when he got it . I never got the "turd" thing either and chaulked it up to mis-guided asthetics. |
