That is my question! Hi guys! Happy holidays!!
I am about to sell off two Hamers in the quest for a new guitar. As much as I love my Hamers, I want something else and think these could get a better home elsewhere.
I currently have two Evos (Special and Deluxe) and am thinking of saving for a Hard Tail or possibly a Les Paul. I say LP, because I tend to always lean toward big mahogany guitars with the Paul style. I just love that thick and huge tone that only seems to come from a certain design. Since I already have two Evos, I am not buying another......rather I though of a Les paul.
But, the possibility of owning a HardTail is amazing and that would really add to me Dean collection.
Can any LP guys add to this post and help me? I may have to take an out of state trip to Delaware tio check out that HT.
Thanks!! |

I was out to buy a Custom a couple of moths ago as I tend to lean towards LPs myself. I couldnt find a good one - or one that felt right to me. I found a Hardtail by accident and went for it. It was a pretty easy decision as I love my TC ML. Best guitar I have ever played (and I have owned and played a lot). Give it a shot if you have the $$ - they're worth every penny. |

LP Custom for me. And a used one at that. I really like the vibe of a great used guitar. My local GC always has a good selection of used LPs and I check them out every time I go. Hey, I'm going today! Guess I'll have a look! |

If you already have two EVO's then why buy a LP?
Regardless, I would go for the Hardtail without a moment's hesitation. Better looking, better sounding, better workmanship.
I just wish I could afford a Hardtail, but I'm perfectly happy with my Cadillac Select and my two Avalanche models. Maybe someday Santa will bring me a Hardtail if I'm really good. |

As much as it makes me pains me to say this, I've actually been wanting a Gibson LP Gothic for a while...Same with the Gibson SG Gothic. I've tried the SG so far, and I like the tone...haven't played the LP yet. But still...neither of them are any match compared to a Dean. |

Sometimes I think people become a little blind and narrow minded when it comes to guitars. I think there are just as many good Gibsons as there are Dean....in fact there are better Gibsons than Deans....and there are better Deans than Gibsons. But to say no Gibson is a match for a Dean?? Not true. I would be proud to have both. The one thing that continues to blow me away is that my $650 Evo Deluxe is one of the best playing guitars I've ever played and that includes guitars from all price points.
But, sometimes I wonder if a Les Paul would give a thicker, creamier tone than my Evo since it has a beefier neck joint. but, you can't dis the fabulous Evo neck joint. |

HT!
I've played some REALLY nice LP's, but not one that a hardtail didn't rival or beat.
The workmanship on the Hardtail is awe-inspiring.
They play and sound GREAT, and let's be honest... When you open the case on a nice LP, ppl are impressed... But when you open the case on a Hardtail, They're speechless.
I have never seen a HT I wouldn't own.
I can't say that about the LP. |

maybe there are some les pauls that are better, but all i know is that the reason that i am playing deans is that i played about 10 lps including ones that retailed for $3500+ and none of them played any better than a hardtail select or the evo i currently have. and the tone of both deans was just as good as well. |

People are speechless when they see my 25th Anniversary Time Capsule Trans Black Cadillac, but looks are not everything. To coin and old phrase " Beauty is only skin deep" which also applies to guitars, I have seen some truly beautiful guitars that sound like crude, and some really plain jane looking ones that sound phenomenal.
A perfect example is the first Dean I owned which was a Czech
Republic Custom handcrafted Korina Z, it blew my Les Paul away, yet my TC Caddy doesn't come anywhere close to the Les Paul, which is very disappointing to me.

Only from the Gibson CS. The Class 5's are bitchin'. But too pricey.

Yeah, get the dean.
Early last week, I would have said go for the Gibson. But Last week, I got to play a Dean in my local music store.
Plus, while The LesPaul is nice... ...Deans are just more unique. |
