This was my first pedal. Offers a lot of different effects in a small package. As far as distortion sounds, the only one that was appealing to me was the "rectified" emulation of the Mesa. You get much better overdrive/distortion from regular pedals, and not nearly as good as overdriven power tubes. For a beginner like me, it's been good to experiment with different effects in a small package in a small room setting. If you're not a beginner, it would be a good way to get many non-distortion effects in one package, and use your amp or pedals for distortion. Problem is you can't easily see what your effects and settings are without scrolling through a menu, and you can't turn off just one of the effects on the fly. My vote's for "good for beginners." |

My vote goes to "Good for beginners" I got an RP-100 myself, and I consider myself a beginner even though I have been playing on/off (mostly off) for 15 years.....
Since I'm satisfied with my RP-100 for practice purposes, I figure the RP-200 must be even a bit sharper...
