It's just a flame real 79. It has nothing to do with the ocean chick. The ad also gives absolutely no detail as to the condition/originality of the guitar. |

Misleading at best - "the last one sold for over $1000" - not a flame - it would have been a standard. |

It's a cool FLAME series V, since it's a 70's one it is a little more arre than most flame series out there, but I say $ 700 max!
Cheers
Hans

The black on the headstock as been refinished. You can see where the logo was masked off. |

People need to educate themselves before plopping something on ebay and trying to sell it to some sucker. I guess its the old Buyer Beware cliche'.
Hopefully someone who will appreciate it for what it is will buy it as long as the seller dosen't think he is gonna get some astronomical price. |

Same could be said for the suckers who bid stupid prices. I hate those guys. But it is good to see some market appreciation. Remember, it's only worth what some sucker will pay for it. |

I always have mixed feelings...on one hand it cool if a DEAN get's a real high amount on the other hand it is cool to buy em cheap...
It's a give and take situation, i have about what I wanna have but i am shure I'll pick up a few in the future.... |

Well, duh, of course we want them for a good price. What I am saying is sellers are putting these things up for auction with bogus info. Id like to think that the majority of us members buying these things can tell the crap from the jewels but not everyone is that fortunate.
What this dude is saying in this auction is like saying.
"The last Red Chevy (ex. a 1971 LS6 Chevelle) sold for over $50,000 and buy mine for alot less!! (ex. a 1981 Chevy Chevette)."
They are praying for the uneducated buyer to come along and snag something for a huge price cause they (the buyer) dosen't know what they are doing. |

I don't see the big deal..... looks like the guy is good at marketing.... and if someone reads the hype and likes the axe.. so be it. "we" don't define the market..... "the people".... define the market. "the people" includes a whole host of folks who are new to the vintage market..... and they learn just like the rest of us.
I see a clean standard going for well over 2K in the next 3 years.

Exactly!! If you can "dress up" the ad and get someone to buy into it - all the more power to you!!
Here's a question. Why do people XX out the last few numbers of a serial number in an ad? Is it because the guitar could be "hot" and they don't want to advertise the serial number in case the original owner sees it? That's pretty much the only reason I can think of. I mean, who cares if the entire serial number is there? |

As I was recently educated on just this issue, apparently some jerks have filed bogus reports of stolen property with police, giving the serial number(s),and saying "It's on ebay RIGHT NOW!!!
This I got when I asked for a serial # on an item, and was politley refused. What some dirtbags will do to screw it up for the rest of us! |
