Please excuse me if I have posted this question under the wrong catagory. -[my first time posting.]
Ok. Right now, I have a Les paul Jr, and a red SG knockoff. I wanna get a real guitar within the next few months. Specifically, I'd like a Dean Cadillac Select. I love these for their style and the fact that I can find them for under $500.
My problem:
I Want one, but I'm not extremely fond of the bright colored burst-finishes available. Tiger-eye is ok, as it is on the darker side. But the fancy quilted top isn't my style. A nice, solid black would be great, and would compliment the neck inlays and sexy cream binding.
Any responses at all would rock my socks off. |

First, find bass&treble's profile. Second, look up his website. On Monday call him. Next ask for a ML NoirX w/ Hardshell Case. Ask him to give you the best price. Finally, place your order and wait for the mail man. |

Ok, I went to the site... and the colors listed for the dean Cadillac Select: Trans Cherry Sunburst, Trans Amberburst, Trans Red.... I saw "TigerEye" in some stores and auctions as a special color. Guess that my only other option. ...at least it's dark(er).
Oh, by the way, the ML's V's ect are awesome. I just want a guitar I can sit with, and have it be my main axe. Hence, the Cadillac Select. |

You've obviously never sat and played an ML or a Z. I have both the Caddy and the Z and would say without doubt the Z is a more comfortable guitar to play seated. Give the Z or an ML a try - you'll be suprised how comfortable it is to play while sitting down.
And your right about the color, a fully bound Caddy is stunning in Black!! |

No $hit Sherlock!! But if his main reason for not wanting an ML or Z is because of the "sit down" factor - he's ruling them out for all the wrong reasons. |

No kidding. I'll sit with a V or ML and I won't with a Les Paul/Caddy body. The V/ML will blow you away...try one at a local dealer and you may never look back. Not to mention, you'll get the color options you want. |

The comfort level of a V or ML highly depends on the angle you like the neck to be in when you play. I like mine in a diagonal, classical position, so a V or ML are fine sitting because I like to put my right leg in between the horns of the guitar. If I liked the neck to be in a more horizontal position, an ML or Z are just OK and the V would not be comfortable.
Any chance you could swing the extra money for a USA Dean Caddy? It comes in black and lots of binding. |

[I made the orginal post]
You guys are right, the ones you mentioned are sexy guitars, they are easy to sit with, (except the V)... ...I have some high-res desktops of both the V and ML, and it takes all the god in me to not break down and get one.(especially because you can get them in black with binding.
But I really want a Caddy.
-I would so get a USA or time capsule caddy in black, (have you seen the guitar magazine ads?!) but I'll only have the 500 bones to spend in a couple months.
I'll probably end up settling fot the TigerEYE Caddy Select in a couple months.
THEN, NEXT YEAR I'll SELL MY CRAP GUITARS, GET A BLACK V with binding TO GO WITH MY TIGER EYE CADDY! THA DEEEEEEAN OBSESSION BEGINS!!
AAAGHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAAAAAAA! |

Hi - why not join DOA and get one of the remaining DOA silver burst Caddys? There are some pics here on the board I'm sure, or Dave at B&T can email you one - believe me they're BadAss looking in silver & black |

There's still some DOA Caddy's left??? If there is, problem solved. Not only are they great looking with a solid color, they are built better than the Caddy selects with better hardware and custom touches. If you can get one - thats what you want!! |

Here's a picture of Elliott (Dean Guitars CEO) at the unvailing of the DOA Caddy. It was/is a guitar created for the members of the DOA - only 50 were produced. This is the only time silverburst has been done on a Caddy. It also has some upgrades including better pups, bridge and the US model tail piece. It also has push/pull coil taps. Talk to Dave at Bass and Treble to see if he has any left:
bassandtreble@usa.net
maybe you can work out a lay away plan with him!

Holy God in heaven. That thing is beautiful. I notice the more expensive bridge right away. and the finish rocks my socks off....
...not too terribly likely that I'll have the money in time, but if I do, I'll buy it.
If not, I'll g'head and get the tigerEye select caddy.
PS: this is the greatest board ever. I got so much advice and help in a flash. You guys are the best. Rock on. |
