you know whats great? old intruments that your uncle owned and are in some garageg somewhere. there even better when i get them (which i did). i got 2 and a half 20+ year old drumsets and they smell terrible. but they work. free = awesome

Unfortunately, I have no other family members that are musicians.

But my kids will be in for a real treat when I get older.

It's even worse when you have an uncle that toured with southern rock legends and had room upon roomfull of vintage gear that he sold or traded for peruvian marching powder.

My Dad used to own a Gibson Firebird. I almost killed him when he told me. Evil or Very Mad I love those things...

...and you know what's NOT so great?

My wifes uncle has an original '67 Gibson LP complete with original hardcase and some other stuff.
He doesn't play it anymore, but refuses to let it go because his grandkids (3 and 5 years old) think it's so much fun to play with when they are visiting....!

My guess is that even the kids will be pi$$ed when they grow up and realize what granddad gave them for a toy....
