Kinda following on from Hans' post, but not really..
I really like the cel shaded HT headstock in there..
Is that a modified photo, or is it rendered from scratch out of a 3D package? |

in it's simplest form, you could say that a cel shaded object looks 'cartoony', typically has some kind of black detail outline together with a quantized pallete, although it can often be used to more subtle effect (like the banner)
It gets it's name from the animation cels used in traditional cartoon making. |

OK - now I get ya! Can't answer the original question though - but I do see what you mean by "cartoony". |

I kinda see what you mean, what with that contour and all... but you have to ask yourself this:
does anyone really care? |

That is a photograph. It is just light reflecting off of the glossy clearcoat. The inlays are laser cut. Very nice guitars. |

Been diving off the Florida Keys myself but I would say that the diving out of Homestead(Miami) is far better! Clearer and less people in the area...haven't been in a long while though. I grew up in Miami and we went diving/deep sea fishing every weekend...got burnt out on it.
I prefer the mountain trails now |

Probably just me.
A few years back my main hobby was 3D artwork, and when I realised I was spending all my time drawing guitars it was pretty obviously time to put it away and go pick up a guitar again..
I used caligari's Truespace, and had a couple honorable mentions in their monthly image contest:

My last project was a CD cover for a local artist, but it turned into the entire layout, and dealing with the duplication folks. Burnout strikes again...

Having said that, one of my proudest moments was seeing a pile of these CD's for the first time at the release party with those plastic cages and the borders pricetags. And then watching people actually buying it was a trip too. |

Awesome stuff! I was a graphic designer for about 10 years, but it's guys like you that kept me from calling myself a graphic "artist". I just didn't have the right stuff. |

Sorry dude, texturing always gave me fits.
In the end I tried to use procedurals wherever I could since i'm more of a programmer...
Renderman shader scripts are cool.

This one I just passed in the parameter for 'age' and it automatically goes from green to yellow to speckled to brown...

Always wondered about working on some game mods, but wasn't very good at low-poly (I used to work for a game developer, that's kinda how I was introduced to this)
The HK looks cool tho. |
