Here it is. Needs a ton of work but it's gonna be a cool guitar when it's done.

Here's Jay's 335.
Here's Bill's. Other than the pickguard, what's the difference?

No. It means one was made in Korea and the other was made in the USA. In case none of you noticed, both are unbelievably sweet 335s...neither are priceless - cept to the owners of course. |

I'd have one! I've always liked the 335s. Dates back to the "British Invasion" of the sixty and early seventys. Everybody played that body style........Gibson, Gretch, Epi......whatever. |

Bill, is yours actually dark on the inside, or is it just a result of an offset flash? |

I've looked mine over and find NO identifying clues such as "made in.. " or a serial number. Bill and I spoke on the phone about them and the only difference I know of is mine seems to have standard frets an Bill are more like Jumbo's. |

Very cool! Whether there's 1 or 2 or 5 of them running around, they're still very very rare guitars. I'd love to have one for sure. |

Lon,
Not being able to see real good pictures of Jays.
Mine is definitely mahogany body with very distinctive graining visible, on front, back and sides.
The pickguard was missing off mine when I got it. I have since purchased a 5 ply 335 pickguard and installed it.
The inside of mine is also natural finish, I took out the pups the last time I changed the strings on mine and in the neck pocket in pencil was written prototype 4/96.
I know of several other Dean 335 style guitars out there, there is a vintage burst, and a birds eye maple one. A number of them were made in the Korean plant UnSung.

I have 2 guitars with different sets of 'Dean' pups, and I'd imagine in a 335 style guitar they would be very nice. |

not implying anything, just an observation..
alot of the import guitars came with the "Dean" stamped pickups, it's just that i've *never* personally seen a USA with imported pickups..
proto, or not..
maybe they were changed out.. |
