$450 for a Euro Korina V? Yep, you got a good deal.
I don't think there's any way to date it by the serial number. I don't think, though, that the Euro construction has been in place for more than a few years, though.
Congrats on the new guitar. Looks like a beauty.

I was eyeing that one as well. You got a really good deal on it. Those are handmade, and from what has been said here, they compare favorably to the USA-made Deans. (I've not played one to compare the two, but others here have) The Czech shop was closed down within the last year or so. That guitar can't be more than 3 or 4 years old.

I was the former owner of a Czech Republic Korina Z and I can tell you that you got a smokin deal. They are by far the best off shore import that DEAN has/had bar none. I also own a TC and the quality of the Czech guitar was every bit as good.
Nice score and welcome to the family.

Was yours a handmade one too ?
I searched on the net for the handmade ones and didn't find a lot of info.
I guess they had a custom shop there in Czech Republic as well , in adding to the manufactured Czech ones ?
thanks ! |

BTW guys, any of you knows about which material the nut is made ?
I hesitate between bone or plastic, but i'd tend to say it's bone, as plastic is kinda for cheapo guitars.
thx |

Yes mine was handmade. It was Korina natural finish. There was a gold label on the back of the headstock that said "handcrafted European Custom Select". sad to say the nut was plastic not bone. Mine had ebony fretboard with abalone dot inlay and abalone DEAN logo. the prototypes were block MOP inlay. I personally liked the dot inlay better.

I remember seeing this but being concerned that it wasn't korina, since usually korina isn't stained that way. Also, the ad said the color was braziliaburst when it's clearly cherryburst. But then I saw a USA korina that was stained cherryburst, so I guess it's legit. Enjoy, and welcome to Dean! |

I guess changing the nut for a bone one would be easy to do ? |

I'd recommend letting a pro do it unless you're familiar with the process. A relatively small expense compared to the headache you could give yourself trying to do it.

from what I saw, unless I,m mistaken, there are customs coming from Korea too, so it probably depends of the place it has been made and if it's handcrafted and such.
But from what I read, even imported and manufactured Deans are great axes.
do you have any pic of yours ? |

hey Bill, is the nut on your TC made out of plastic too ?
Every high end dean I see on the web, seem to have a plastic nut also. Am I mistaking, do all Dean guitars come with a plastic nut or are they made out of bone ? |

Actually, bone nuts are quite rare. Almost all nuts these days (and for the past 40 years or so) are some form of plastic. Nothing wrong with it if it's done correctly. I have some 60's guitars with the original nuts and they're just fine. Keep in mind that the nut only comes into play (tone-wise) for open notes and chords.
BTW, If anyone else is looking for a Czech natural Korina V with OHSC let me know...I'll let mine go for the same price.

I noticed that my new custom ML came with a graphite nut, whereas my TC DEANs seem to have it made out of some sort of plastic...

Guys, the Dean V has landed,
absolutely smooth as hell neck and all !!!
it's loaded with 10-52 and it's as much smooth as my gibson explorer loaded with 9-42 !
really awesome finish, better looking than in the pics too
It's really weird since I never tried anything like that, and I never thought that korina was as light !!! It's really bright sounding I gotta say, I'll probably load that bastard with some darker pickups.
I'm a Dean fan now |

Who fed you that line? There are no customs from Korea. Also FYI, I believe all the Czech Republic Deans are handmade. I don't recall any Korean Korina models. Just so you know. |
