Believe me when I say that this is breaking my heart!!!!!!!!
These are all great guitars and I think the prices are very reasonable. I'll split shipping with any member who buys one. I know it's not much, but I'm not selling them for the Hell of it. |

Hmmm. I could use a guitar with "FANTANTIC" sustain and resonance. Handmade Chafin guitar for $500, sounds good to me. |

Agreed. Whether you spell it faltaltic, fastastic or faptaptic, that's a dang sweet guitar for a $500 BIN price.

Ya know Lon, the price is right, no doubt about it but I'm gonna wait for a Collectors Edition. I love DEAN GUITARS. I want my guitar to FEEL like a DEAN, not a PRS. Rounded over binding, V shaped neck.. the things that made just about ALL of us love DEANS in the first place. I just tried out a HardTail again a few weeks ago. NOTHING about it said "DEAN" to me besides the headstock. Collectors Edition HardTail all the way for me!

There is absolutely nothing "Non-Dean" about a Standard Hardtail. If anything the neck on kine reminds me of my 1979 Flame Z neck and that is about as Dean as a Dean gets. Sure I love the "V" as well, but it's all good to me. Tell you what ask any Hardtail owner and they will all tell you it's one Badass Axe. |

I dunno I agree they look like foridable axes and the fit and finish is definately DEAN as is the quality but appearance wise I still don't see em as a genuie DEAN, I mean it hasn't got a V headstock, no V neck, no rounded binding, no string through body (OK the Caddies also haven't got that), it more of a classy PRS style guitar....
To me it lacks a bit identity...plus I am not fond of the bodystyle, I do think it's prolly good for DEAN having another type of guitar out there...
I was at feedback music in Rotterdam last saturday and played around with the faded Denim HT, I dunno I didn;t like it as much as my TC's, but that also has to do with the neck, I prefer V necks..it sounded good though and I was proud seeing a USA DEAN in Holland...but it's somehow disturbing that was the only two USA DEANs they had....I'd love to see the TC's pushed a bit more!
Nice detail was that the same night someone posted at a Dutch guitar board he bought teh HT I played that afternoon....COOL, one of the very few USA DEAN owners in Holland. he likes it alot and is glad he sold his IBANEZ JEM for it..
And selling your JEM for a HT is a big guess here since DEANs have vitually no resale here, since they are dead unknown! |

I never said the standard HardTail was no good. I only stated it wasn't the guitar for me and didn't have the vintage DEAN feel that I prefer. Dean himself said at DOA1 that they measured the PRS' neck among other guitars INTENDING to give the HardTail a similar feel. No offense intended! I don't think Dean Z-man EVER put his name on a bad guitar. |

I think Dean aimed their gun at the PRS market and came at them with both barrels blazin' with the Hardtail....
When you compare the two... I feel the 'tail is a similar fit and finish with superior tops and I prefer the Duncan pups vs. some of the PRS ones. Price wise... the Dean is the better deal! Oh yeah... no up-charge for inlays! That extra charge for the birds is "for the birds!"
The necks on the PRS, especially the wide/thin, feel like the Hardtails... but more thin. The 'tail has a comfortable C shape. I think the CE gives the buying public a different taste in neck feel...not sure if it's similar to the wide fat... probably not as wide... but answers to the PRS neck shapes.
The Hardtail gives Dean a competitive edge when dealing with the PRS buying audience. Better materials... Top notch Craftsmanship and an appealing body shape that apparently sells!
I love my TCZ, TCML and Anniversary Caddy just as much... but the Hardtails are definitely becoming my favorites.
just my 2cents.... |

i just want to know the tone difference between the Standard HTs, and the Collector's HTs...
the standard has "tone chambers", there are routes in the body.. and the Collector's is full solid..
i wonder if there are any pics of the routes in the standard body..
and is there any chance of a "Lite" HT?? one that is semi-hollow.. minus the f-holes, that's kinda cheesy IMO and way too PRS-like.. something that is near 6.5 lbs.. this screams for a Piezo pickup.. |

All of my deans scream with a piezo pickup. Six of em, to be exact.
At one point Dean was talking to RMC about using his polydrive stuff in a Sarasota model, which would add a VG/Midi ready axe to the Dean line. Dunno what happened with that.
Not that it matters, since I've already retroed my existing ones, and the customs from here on out will be set up for them at the get go.

Mike, you still haven't told us what's up with why you're selling them.
I just can't imagine parting with that many USA's.
Yikes!

We need cash - plain and simple - a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. They are exquisite guitars, but they are things and things can be replaced. |

According to the GuitarPlayer review, the Collector's Edition HardTails have tone chambers. The statement is on page three, towards the end of the second paragraph. It says chambers will keep the weight below 8 1/2 lbs. My standard EGR flame weighs 8 lb 12 oz and the BB flame weighs 8 lb 11 oz so I assume they don't have tone chambers. The EGR quilt weighs a svelte 8 lb 4 oz. |
