Also, Dime'solo in Flood. |

i haven't listened to that cd in a while so i'm a little rusty on which solos are the best ones and the second solo on inside four walls i just remember as being much better than the first. i agree with you though. |

I am METAL all the way
Most stuff mentioned will get the blood boiling.
But, lets think about this............
Emotionally speaking, next to Comfortably Numb, I would have to say that the one lead that still brings chills to the spine is...........
Gary Moore - Still Got The Blues
That solo brings tears to the eyes |

Hows about Cold Hearted and I Can't Wait Until Tomorrow from "Corridors of Power"? His new CD "Scars" is a real burner, too.
Frank Zappa - What's New In Baltimore from ".....Meet The Mothers of Prevention"
Edward Van Halen with the SNL Orchestra - Stompin' At 8H
Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck - Further On Up The Road (from "The Secret Policemen's Other Ball")
Michael Schenker/UFO - I'm A Loser
Tommy Bolin - Dreamer from "Teaser"
Bernie Torme'/Ian Gillan Band - If You Believe Me from "Glory Road"
Allan Holdsworth w/Jean-Luc Ponty - In Spite Of All from "Individual Choice"
The list just keeps going.........

End of discussion good??? ehhhh... Lights Out is better IMO.
Thanks to Oz for the reminder on Maiden.
Adrian Smith's solo (the first one) in Ryme of the Ancient Mariner will, to quote Jack Black, "melt your face." He's got this hellacious midrangey sound out of what I believe is his Les Paul (especially on the Live After Death album). Awesome.
Janick Gers' solo on Wasting Love is surprisingly well composed considering it's, well, Janick Gers. The man can play though! Try to get a copy of Bruce Dickinson's Dive Dive Live videocassette. He goes from crazy one sec to very melodious the next.
Dave Murray: nothing really comes to mind probably cause he does a lot of great solos. He does one in Powerslave that is pretty rad (the second one I think). Awesome legato style I aspire to in my own crappy way. |

WOW! I've been jamming Parchment Farm because I am a huge Fu-Manchu fan. I can't call myself a real Blue Cheer fan as I've only heard that one song, but man is it raw and cool sounding. Good choice!
Not sure that it predates Hey Joe but the delivery of the subject is a lot better IMO:
Lord I believe I'll be here for the rest of my life...
All I did, was shoot my wife...
She was no good... |

Gary Moore "Shapes of things". Ya better sit down for this one if it's yer first time! Rik Emmett/TRIUMPH "Fight The Good Fight", three lines of music at once, boyz and girlz. That's pure Mozart Territory. Also, Walter Trout, "Finally Gotten Over You", and "You Gotta Broken Heart" from LIVE TROUT. Will tip ya RIGHT over! |
