Another forum member (Heretic Hulk) and I are off to the wilds of Iowa to see Anthrax tonight.
While I've never seen them live before, and was never really a huge fan of theirs, Hulk turned me on to some of the tunes of the new cd. Looking forward to a hard hitting show from these guys.
I've been a fan of John Bush since the old Armored Saint days, when I saw them in Burlington Ia. years ago with WASP and King Cobra (nothing like dating myself....lol)
I'm sure we'll give a post-battle report tomorrow....

Cool, I saw em twice on the last tour they were cool though I still don;t dig John Bush...but musically they are very tight Scott ian rocks!
I always loved Scott's riffs and his stage act....at leats they started to play teh old stuff again live back in teh 90's they only played new (John Bush era) songs and a short medley of classics, at teh shows were I was it was like 70 % classics and 30% new songs really cool!
I bet you'll love it! |

I've always liked the band but never bought a cd. I was @ the store the other day trying to figure out which disc to get. Any suggestions? I try to avoid greatest hits stuff.
thanks

I'd say go with "spreading the disaese" it contains solely classics...closely followed by "among the living" and the far more classic metal voiced "fistful of metal"...but up til 1992 they only released killer albums!
I only think "state of euphoria" is slightly less interesting |

Had a great time last night...
The show as in Clear Lake , Iowa, at the Surf Ballroom... a rather small venue ( maybe a thousand seater...). A local band opened the show and did about a half hour set of death metal... not my thing, but....
V Shaped Mind was the second act. These guys were pretty good... I've actually heard some of their stuff on the radio.
Antrax really blew my mind, though. We were standing about 10 feet from the stage when they started the set. I guess I'm getting old... the whole stage diving/crowd surfing/ mosh pit thing escapes me...lol. I'd guess that Hulk could give a better description of the songs they did, as I didn't know most of them, but they did a few I know... Nobody Knows Anything ( off their current cd, and which our band covers...), Caught in a Mosh, and the Indian song ( forgot the actual title, but I'd heard it before) which they closed with.
We hung around after the show, and I got to talk to and get autographs from Frank (the bass player) and John Bush... it was really cool talking to him for a few moments... he seemed really suprised that I remembered the old days with Armored Saint... a really nice guy.
