Hello Guys!
New to the board and to Dean guitars (sort of). Just ordered a USA Z cherry sunburst from Dave's Guitar Shop yesterday. It should arrive Thursday or Friday. I must say, that I can't wait. This guitar has everything a bad axe should. I've always liked "explorer" type guitars and zebra coils are a must, they just look right.
Short background: started playing in '77 and stopped in '95. Last week I sold a guitar out of my collection to a friend. I put fresh strings on it and was infected with the "bug" again. I never could get guitars out of my system and now I feel a huge void has been filled since I started playing again.
I've always been in search of the perfect guitar. I've played Gibson and PRS, etc and I'm not impressed. Then I ran accross that Z at Dave's. I thought back to '83 when my folks were gonna buy me my first "real guitar". I played a beat up Z @ this downtown music store. The guitar didn't look like much, black and tarnished hardware but it played like a dream. I've yet to play a guitar like that one. I kinda feel like I've come home, so to speak. I'm glad Dean is back in a major way and am looking forward to getting back on track with my music.

They had a great price on that Z, $1,250 new. If it's still there, they have a new cherryburst V for the same price. Too bad I can't stand cherryburst. Congratulations on your new guitar, if it had been brazilliaburst, it would have been mine.  |

DOA = Dean Owners of America. You don't need to own a Dean USA to join. There's a news letter every now and then.
There's also annual get to gether at the HQ in Florida. A special DOA guitar will be available for DOA members only and there's also a t-shirt. There's something else ofcourse, I just don't remember 
Send a PM to jim6251 with your name, address and e-mail. You'll get your DOA # from him.

Thanks, you know I left out a part of the tale, my folks refused to buy the guitar because of it's condition. It was the one that got away. If I knew then what I know now, I would have stood my ground! |

Well, im not getting my ace in a long time! I custom ordered 1 and god only knows how long it will take for it to be finished... But hey, its worth the waiting! I bet it'll be the guitar of my dreams! |

I'm also a "took an extended hiatus" player. I got back into playing about 2 1/2 years ago. You're right, the void is filled.
The odd coincidence part for me is the "one that got away" for me was a blueburst ML, and when I got back into it, I bought one of the TimeCap ML's, from Dave's Guitar Shop, no less.
I've got an 80 ML that I bought when new, and still have it.
I think you'll really like the USA, personally, I think they're better now than they were then.

Mark, that is so cool! I'm just glad you never really forget how to play, just gotta kick off a little rust. And it does get a little more weird, I'm planning on a blue ML in the future. Hmmmm.
Also, thanks everyone for the warm welcome, you guys are great. I've seen the "other" boards. I'll just leave it at that!
