Hey everyone! I have purchased a Dean eVo Special about a year ago and am starting to think about making some alterations to it. Does anybody have any good ideas? I want to play blues and lead guitar. Thanks for you help!

nice guitar - my best guess on advice would go with Bill - he is the bluesman after all - he'll more than likely say it's already set up and more than capable of being a great blues and lead guitar

If you are looking for a pick up suggestion, it would be to put in DiMarzio's Tone Zone in the bridge and a Bluesbucker in the neck. You can go to: www.dimarzio.com and listen to sound bytes of both pickups as well as view a graph scale which will show the bass, mid, and treble range of each pickup. I have this combo in several of my guitars and they smoke.

I should jump in here and advise if you're after a good blues/rock pickup for the bridge of your EVO the Seymour Duncan Custom Custom kick's. It dishes out heaping helpings of mids. It's awesome.

I like the CC as well, but it is not a BLUES pickup! Early EVH, yes; blues, no.

I seem to beable to dial up quite a servicable blues lead tone with mine. I start by tweaking the gain on my amp. Ususally I leave everything on '7' but for not for blues. Then I back off the tone control to about the 6 mark and back off the vol a couple of notches on the axeola. But then again I am talking edgier blues. That's all I know.

I certainly don't use my CC for any EVH-style widdllery!!! Shocked Smile Smile But yes the CC also does the brown sound too. It's a good all purpose rock pup I think.

Yes, trade your guitar in on a Premium. As a bonus, you'll get better pups and an ebony fretboard.
