hey all,
I'm thinking of selling my AVT50, and buying a randall 100w 2x12" combo. my AVT50 is having a lot of problems. when i switch channels, the amp either switches and switches back to the channel i was changing from, or the amp turns off! so i'm buying a new amp for christmas. how's the quality of the randall? i think the model is called RG100SC or something like that.
thanks

Years ago I had a Randall stereo chorus amp and it was killer, I liked it much better than the Marshall combo I had. IMO, it's big sound w/o the big name or price. |

i'd say the Randall amps are the best SS amps out there for Distortion sound. CLosest thign to tubes, to my ears, althought he line 6 products have done Very well, and are very convincing, not perfect, but almost... My only complaint was that with the randall I had it wasn't loud enough... it was a 100 watt head, but I had to play with it on about 8 or 9 all the time, and sometimes even that seems to lose it's "oomph" after you were more than 20 feet away from it...the joy of SS... So I switched to an all tube Marshall, the Marshall JCM 2000 TSL100. I like it much better, however, the differance is amazing.... $1500 marshall head, or $400 randall. I'd never be ashamed to say I p[layed a randall, and if you're using good PA's with good moniters, or just playing in a garage or by yourself, they sound absolutely killer for thier intended purpose! HTH! |

are they durable? i'm getting a good deal on the floor model, since that is the last one the guitar store has in stock. I don't want it breaking down on me! |

Randall Amps are built like tanks Nick - hard to go wrong with one if it's anything like mine. They weren't a premier touring amp in the 80's for nothing. |

My RG100ES was built around 1987. I have had it since 1994. Almost 10 years that thing has been rockin strong with no issues whatsoever.
Im gonna buy an RH100 pretty soon. |

nice, I guess i'll be getting a randall! either the 100w version or the 75w version. i might be able to get a good deal on the 100w version since it's the floor model. |

awww Randall..that's the official sound for my band. Both me and the other guitarist use RH200's...I love em. I'd go for it. We've had a few problems but they were mostly on our part. The sounds of a vintage dean through it is amazing. |

I have a Randall RG75 combo and the cyclone head. The RG75 sounds closest to what your thinking about gettingl. I think you should definately buy the amp. You will be very happy with it. |
