I got a friend who plays locally here in Orlando in a band called ION SIFT.

I think it is a Tropical ML. Even he doesn't know.

ROFLMO - good one Thor - BTW that doesnt' look like a Tropical the 3-way switch is in the correct spot.

Actually, it was payment to see if he'd drop a duce and if it would come through the fishnets like a Playdough factory.

Tropical _DID_ make MLs with the correct size and shape, and switch location..

you had to order it directly from the Custom Shop like that.. the only thing that was cheesy about them is that the output jackplate was made of the same plastic that the control covers were made of.. and would easily break at the screw holes..

'96 ish Tropical. Wanna know how? The neck binding is at the end of the fretboard against the pickup ring. Brave Dave had one of those a few years back and sold it. Id like to get one. Im at the point to where I want a USA ML of every type I can get.

They make em like that now. That could be a 79 reissue. {don't know about those pups though...aftermarket?}

Lets try this again. Its a tropical because.

1) No black 79 series ever had a bound stock.
2) No 79 series ever had a series 3 headstock.
3) No 79 series ever had the f'd up neckjoint.
4) Thats one helluva bar tan for a brand new 79 series.

I have seen the '96 USA MLs in person. That is what that is.

Thor, next time you see it look for the serial # stamped into the last fret.

The Fretboard also goes deeper into teh body than on any of my ML's...now I am loking closely at it...so I guess Joe is right!

I wasn't being condescending, I was just pointing out the binding at the end of the neck isn't the defining factor on tropicals.

I thought tropical mLs all had the warped shape and misplaced selector switches. Is that just the imports?
