Anyone have a recommendation for good quality computer speakers? Or, do you know of a source of a good comparative review? Thanks. |

I use Sennheiser headphones( www.sennheiser.com ). I like them alot, very natural sounding and great sound quility.
So I can't really help you with external speakers, sorry.

Altec Lansing... great speaker and reasonably priced. Are you going to use them for music or just general computer use? |

I use Klipsch Pro Media THX and they are great speakers. With the SB-Live Platinum & a live drive I can plug a guitar right into the face plate. I need a modeling program for different amp sounds - maybe Cake Walk? |

Cambridge Soundworks and Boston Acoustic on different systems here. Both have nice subwoofers.

Klipsch are excellent. I have had the 400 watt v.2-400 for 3 years now. Klipsch now has a 5.1 unit. 200 watt subwoofer, 4 50-watt satellites and a 50 watt center speaker. In my opinion it would take big bucks to beat them. As they say, you can't lick a Klipsch.

I demoed a bunch of computer speakers today, including all the ones mentioned in this thread. To me, the one that sounded the best was the Logitec Z-2200. It has a subwoofer and only 2 satellite speakers, but it's THX certified, and sounded better than the $400 Klipsch and Altecs. Comp USA was sold out of them for $149, but I found them online at Amazon.com for $114 including shipping. After looking at the specs, this was the only one that had a signal-to-noise ratio >100 -- no wonder I liked it! For all those looking, I definitely recommend them. Even without the surround sound, they sounded the best. |

Joe- I recently picked up a set of Logitech Z-680's for 300 bones. I know that sounds pricey for a computer sound system, but it's totally balls to the walls( (5.1 surround.) If you're willing to fork out the cash, I can't recommend this system enough. It's way kick a$$ for games and movies. I love it! |

Chuck, what do you think of that GNX3? I've heard mixed reviews so far leaning towards the good side. Is the Wah pedal any good or would I probably need another? |

The GNX3 is pretty decent Alan. It has some amazing amp models that sound dead on to the originals. I use it primarily for small recordings and for playing through a set of headphones (as to not annoy the neighbors... yeah right!). I found it to be a bit cumbersome to operate.... but once you figure it all out it ROCKS! It has something called "warp" where you can mix amp models together (Red and green channels) which is way cool. As for the wah... it's pretty good but there's no substitute for a Morley wah IMHO. Let me know if you have any other specific questions. |

Definitely go with the Klipsch!!!
They simply are the most accurate sounding computer speaker available.
Respectfully yours,
Heliman
