Interesting V. It would probably play even better if the G string were actually on the saddle correctly. |

it's a one-off Korean "Custom Shop" V..
i think that there were 2, or 3, made.. it was made for an "artist" and it was rejected.. so they were sold off..
this V was on the old board.. one of them was sold on eBay for something like 600..
it's rare, as rare as a MIK can be, and it does look cool..
ask Elliott about it.. |

That would explain the series III headstock. So this isn't a fairly new guitar, because aren't all the new (last few months) coming in with the bigger Series II headstocks ?

No. It just means that the specs are different to a normal MIK model. The only custom shop I know of in Korea is Tokai's. |

Which Tokai's are built there? I tought that only the low-end model's are built in Korea. All the high-end Tokai's are built in Japan, right?

Right. But apparently they currently have a custom shop in Korea. I don't really know alot about it, but some of those new MIK 'Custom Shop' Tokai's you see on Ebay are legit. I'd still go MIJ. The Reborns kickas$. I'll be snagging one of those next year for sure. |

Oh yes, I found the info.
"Custom Shop Love Rocks
These are made in Korea and they are basically the same as the 2001 limited editions. They went back to the original Les Paul design and the 2001 Japanese Les Paul headstock with the little bump in the headstock. See below (2001 Limited Edition Love Rocks for details).
They feature Mahogany body and neck with Flamed Sycamore Top and Rosewood fingerboard. They are serial numbered and hand crafted in Korea to keep the costs down."
Btw, I've had two Tokai's. One Korean made ALS-48 and one LC-70SS. The LC-70 is a really good guitar. I liked it very much. The Korean made wasn't as good. The price is little different too of course.

+1! The LC 70 was cool. Tokai's MIJ LPs are killer. Better than Gibbo production standards and Classics for sure. More 'mojo'.
For my money tho Bacchus have the best MIJ custom shop. Exact replicas, excellent quality woods. I really can't fault my SG. It's the best I've laid my hands on. Seriously Japanese QC is sh!t hot. |
