The polls closed at 11:59 pm central time last night. All votes have been counted. Each cast ballot was printed off for a physical record until the voting was finished. The printed ballots were counted and compared to the votes as tracked in the DOA Member List master file. The figures from each side balanced to each other. That's a good thing.

From a membership pool of 254, a total of 86 ballots were cast in the election. That works out to a 33.8583% participation rate. I would've liked to have gotten a higher percentage rate(over 40%), but I think that getting over a third of the group to vote on this matter is a pretty strong showing. Everyone that took the time to vote should be commended for participating in the process.

Before we get to the results, let's clarify a few things:
1. This election was tracked in the state of Missouri, not Florida. No hanging chad issues or arguing over the voting intent of some 115-year-old lady who decided to partially mark all of the boxes.
2. As stated, a hardcopy of all votes has been maintained. The copies will be inserted in the office shredder some time tomorrow. They were kept as a backup in the event that I lost the master file. I hate to even say anything about losing the master file, as I don't want to retype it. Ever.
3. The votes cast by individual members will remain a secret. Period. I'm the only one who know how individual members voted and the column will be deleted from the member list at the same time the hardcopies go in the shredder.
4. Voting results are final.

And now, for the official DOA President Voting Results.........

53 votes for BraveDave
15 votes for Jeff/100% Tone
14 votes for Randall
3 votes to Abstain
1 vote for Ozz

Again, thanks to all who participated.

If this is a serious question, there were three members that chose to abstain their vote. Thus, they voted but chose no specific candidate.

If it is not a serious question, A. B. Stain is a member not normally discussed in these parts. He's a left-handed 7-string player that likes his amp louder than everyone else's rig and assumes that every second of every tune is his personal opportunity to solo.

Congrats, Dave. I know you shall not fail us.

As your first order of duty in your new term, I say you get to the bottom of the 77 Z conspiracy. Perhaps you should apoint a commission or something.

Seriously...I know I'm not alone in saying I want to know where this went and for how much.

Nah, it just means they didn't want to choose anyone IE they were abstaining from voting. I think?

Maybe that was a bad usage in that context. How about changing it to the "reverence" of the voting booth, in the sense that it is a sacred right to us to be able to cast a vote within the privacy of said booth without obligation to reveal to anyone else how a vote was cast.

Roget's Thesaurus is about the most un-user-friendly publication in existence.

I finally saw this post. Thanks to all who had the confidence in my past efforts and I assure you I will give it my all in 2004. I want to congratulate Randall and Tone for making in impressive showing and to all of you who participated in the democratic process. I never expected a voter turnout this large. I am very impressed. There are some new ideas on the table and I intend to impliment many of them. Thanks again, now it's on the New Hampshire and let's win there......oh, sorry - wrong election. Yeah, I know....I'm no Jack Kennedy.

I wrote in Dennis Miller in the last election.

Ok, not really, but I'd vote for him over any "Professional Politician"
