You're kidding, right? Gibbons has played Gibsons forever. Hell, he has a guitar he calls Pearly Gates it's so perfect. Gibson has manufactured a guitar in the shape of the lower 48 states as well as one shaped like Texas. I'm actually shocked that Gibson hasn't put out a Pearly Gates signature model. They were a band long before Dean Z. made guitars, my man.

+1 on the Pearly RI. Gibson makes a guitar for Johnny A. (who WTF?) meanwhile the Reverend is getting his own back playing Epi's and other copies. He should just stick to TCs tho...

Billy has currently been playing a Gretsch "Cadillac" made for Bo Diddly that Bo gave to him. One of only two made. It was called a Caddilac due to the old fin shape of Caddys.

The Rev's Gibby LP is completely chambered... light as a feather. He gets all of his incredible crunch out of many Pandora stomp boxes strung together.

Reading about ZZ Top just made have to snap a pic of this "Dancing Hamster" I found the other day.

The guitar spins, and he dances to "Sharp Dressed Man".

Notice the Headstock ! Cool

Look on the Dean Guitars front page, Genius. Last time I looked (a minute ago) there was a link and a huge pic of ZZ TOP with their shaggy axes. Ya can't miss it... Rolling Eyes

the pandoras are a "totem".. as well as the Airline amp that they sit on.. it's called "LapDog".. it's a bit of Billy's voodoo..

he doesn't use them at all..

he has a huge offstage rack.. and all the guitars that he uses are EQ'd to sound the same..

his XXX-touring rack was...

2 Digitech Mono28 EQs
2 Marshall JMP-1's
4 Marshall Valvestate 120/120 amps
2 Roland SE-70 fx-processors
1 Gold Line Frequency Analyzer
1 Sampson UR-50 wireless
1 Korg DTR2 Tuner
1 Furman power conditioner

all stuffed in a sweet shockmount ??sp rack that i'd offer my left one (the good one) for..

the PA is fed from a Demeter iso-box w/a 16 Ohm 100w Celestion miked with a Audio Technica AT4060 and a solid state Audio Technica AT4047/SV.. and in addition the 6 Custom made "Creme" 4x12's loaded with 100w Celestions..

and his guitars are strung with .08, .010, .012, .020, .030, .040.. and of what brand i don't know.. i *think* that they are GHS Nickle Rockers..

he floats around town.. he lives in SugarLand, Texas.. so, he does pop-in and out of Rockin Robin in Houston.. and he shows at the guitar shows around the state..

if anyone is interested, Dusty Hill's Custom P-Bass is for sale there..

Go to Ed Romans site look under guitars of the stars . He owns both of them, the last I knew they were for sale for $10,000.00 for the pair.

the Reverend uses pretty much *any* guitar..

on the last tour he used a Teuffel, "Knife Primativo" customs by John Bolen, Various Gibson LPs, and a Tokai Love Rock..

not to mention the white Gibson Explorers (with a V headstock) that are now sheepskin covered like the Dean Zs..
