I just purchased a signed Time Capsule Z #44 of 50, beautiful instrument but it has a problem. The 7th fret on this guitar buzzes bad, paticularly on the G string, the rest of the neck seems to be OK. The guitar was set up before I brought it home and I am kicking myself for not noticing it before, I am assuming that it has a high fret. Have any of you guys had warranty work done and if so did you ship it to Dean and have them do it or did you have it taken care of locally? I am going to call my dealer today but he is not equipped to do the type of work this guitar may require. |

Welcome.... That's very minor work for you to ship the guitar to Dean. It should be handled by the dealer. If the dealer is not local, I would suggest bringing it in to your local shop and have them do a quick check. A high fret may be all it is but you never can be too sure. A re-crowning or filing may be in order.

Thaks for the quick response. If a local tech finds the problem and fixes it will Dean cover the work or is there specific techs that are able to do warranty work? I will pay the $20.00 or so for the fixing of a high fret but I will not eat the cost of a full level on a brand new $1700.00 guitar. |

Did you buy the guitar new from a Dean dealer or secondhand from a store or thru an online auction? That may have some effect on any warranty work.
Good luck and congrats on the new guitar.

Agreed.... I think you would be better off contacting Dean and asking that question. I think it would help if you definitively new the cost associated with the problem so you can pass that on as well.
Let us know what happens.... Did you buy the guitar brandy new? Great find!

I bought the guitar brand new, the dealer had it in the shop for about a year and wanted to move it. I had bought a Time Capsule V from this dealer as well but had to sell it for financial reasons and when I had the opportunity to own one of these fine guitars again I jumped at the chance, you cannot beat the quality of the product. Please realize that I am not that pissed off, this stuff happens. I just want to find the quickest solution to the problem. |

I'm sure Dean will work out the problem with you. Based on what you are telling us.... the repair lies with the Dealer. IMHO.... |

Exactly as stated by Mr. Chuck.
As you state, it's new and it's from a Dean dealer. Shouldn't be a problem. In the link I posted, there's also an email address you can use if you have questions or issues.

Hopefully he's able to do that. Not one of the local dealers where I'm at would fix my Deans. They said it was "because I didn't buy the guitar from their shop." Elliot reimbursed me for the work I had done to my Euro Caddy and TC ML. Now my Black 79 ML does the same thing with fret buzz, at the nut. These guys I've dealt with who are Dean dealers anyway, do a pretty shoddy job on the repairs anyway. I've taken my guitars to an old repairman I've trusted for years, and haven't been dissatisfied with his work one bit. |
