On an electric guitar, is it normal that if you strum a little hard the string will vibrate on one of the frets and make a buzzing noise. Please have a good anwser |

If you are not pressing the strings down hard enough...not "fretting" correctly, this can happen. A small amount of buzz is not uncommon if the action is really low. A lot of buzz indicates that the guitar is not set up correctly.

What is with all the "which is better polls?" They are all DEANs that is all that matters. And ditto to what Dana said.

Julian, find someone who can do a very good quality set up and possibly a fret dressing. Yes, a fret dressing. I haven't found a new guitar that couldn't benefit from a quality professional giving the frets a nice dressing and crowning. I have a few Hamers of which one is brand new. I thought the frets were pretty darn perfect until I too k it to a master guitar tech in our area. I say master because I can't believe what this guy has done for my guitars and others in the Philadelphia area. All of my guitar's frets have an amazing polished shine and the perfect crown which is important for correct intonation and man do the frets feel smooth and fast. plus, he is anamazing tech when it comes to a proper set-up. So, seek out one of these guys and learn from them. all of my buzzing issues are now gone. sometimes I'll notice differences depending on the exposure to temperature change, etc. Also, buzzing can be noticable depending on your picking styles. There can actually be quite a few variables involved.
Good luck. |
