I have always been a big fan of Dean guitars but have never been able to bring myself to fork out that kind of money considering that I am a below average player. Just recently I won a Dean from a radio show give away. They say it is a '79 series but I am a little unsure. I reviewed many pics of the '79 series and everything looks good but.... It is black with white binding...it has all the top of the line materials and components...but it has a floyd rose tremolo system! Most of the pics I've seen of the '79 series has a v shaped string through design. I'm hoping those are pics from the original '79 mls's and that this is a true reissue with a more modern system! Can someone give me some insight?

Can you post a picture of it?
What does it say on the back of the headstock?

Either way, you won a Dean. Congrats and welcome.

Woa - whats the only thing better than a Dean - A FREE DEAN!! Woo Hoo!!

Welcome! And yes - the 79's do have a line with Floyds on them - refered to as a 79F. The original reissues did not have a floyd system, they were added as an option the following year because some whiney a$$ forum meber wouldn't stop crying about it! LOL! Wink

Dizzy....(One WAY below average player that buys them anyway! Wink )

The Floyded series pretty much came to be because Joe (Vanilla Gorilla) kept begging Elliott for one.

Have you actually played a vintage USA Dean here in Finland? I haven't seen any USA Deans here.
