I just got a used Baby Z and I have some questions.
It seems like a bit of an oddball, but I don't know a whole lot about the babies...
This guitar has floyd rose trem. {I've never actually seen FLOYD on a baby}
Big headstock with NO SERIAL NUM, OR MADE IN KOREA DECAL. {all of my other bolt on Deans have serials accompanied by made in korea on the back of the stock}
I have actually never seen a Baby with the big wing logo headstock.
Is this common?

Yes, big headstock babies do exist.
My bass (which used to belong to Hunter), is a neck through, and also has NO SERIAL NUMBER OR STICKER.
On the old forums, the babies had a very large discussion regarding serial numbers, years of production, and country of origin. Apparently, they still remain a mystery.

Is the serial # in the last fret near the neck pickup? |

Uh, let me see.............................
No
As far as the serial number goes, it is nowhere to be found. Not on the fretboard, not on back of headstock, nowhere. The only place I have not looked was under the pups, but I doubt it is there either.
Like I said, by looking at the back of the bass, you can clearly see it is a neck-through (not a set neck). Yet, there is no stamp "Made In USA" either.
When Hunter had it signed by Dean Z at DOA 2003, he told him he thought it was an import from the Tropical era.
Was there any neck through imports produced then ? |
