I've been farting around with the Cyber Twin (2X12 combo) and its little brother Cyber Deluxe (1x12 combo) at the local music store. They're pretty fun to fart with, just wondering if anyone has one and can say how they sound outside the music shop (as far as volume, playing with others, recording, etc)
It does have a line out for recording (go into the line in a sound card) that seems pretty cool, and tons of built in goodies. Just not sure if it's worth the $$ over getting a pod or something to use for recording. RIght now I'm just going directly into a distortion pedal to the line in on my soundcard. |

I looked at them and tried out a couple also. I just couldn't justify the cost. I wound up getting a Fender Stage 100 DSP for half the price. I decided I didn't really need all the amp modeling but did like the digital effects. The DSP series is less frills but still has good studio effects. |

i messed with one (CyberTwin) at Rockin Robin in Houston.. it was cool.. nifty rotating knobs..
i wasn't impressed with the tones.. not that they were bad, or unuseable, it just sounded "plastic" to me..
and i couldn't get past the $1699.99 for it.. too much for too little that sounds like it could have been better..
IMO, unless you are a Fender-phile, you'd be better off looking for a really good FX unit and a nice combo.. separately.. then if either one does not satsify your present "tone", then you can dump it and get something else without losing the part you wanna keep.. |

The guitar player in my last band, a classic rock outfit, swears by his. He set up standard "generic" presets and a few for specific songs and has had great luck with it. I thoght the tone was great in both live and studio settings. He got it for about a grand new at a local music shop.
Hope this helps

I looked at the cyber twin real hard for a while. Also the Vox Valvtronix and the stuff by Line 6 and Johnson. All very nice. The Cyber series does sound the best(to my ears) at live volumes. As in all the modelors, the key is to get it with the intended pedalbord. Or a midi board. In the end I went with a multi/amp rig with custom switching. I could use any one of three amps, or all at once. I really only needed a couple different tones, and had these amps in the stable already so, it was different for me. The only real problem with these space age digiamps is that you spend more time tweaking than actually playing. And that will make you go insane! "I think I can get this patch to sound just a little better..." I gave it all up for simplicity, when I came to my senses, and just plugged a guitar straight into an amp. No effects, no foo foo frills, just the guitar and pickup selector and knobs. And that still works in my book, just fine. |

I've got a Peavey Transtube 212. It's a stereo tube amp with a slew of digital effects. Also has a tuner, two effects send and return. Comes with the midi stomp board to run every thing. I has 16 presets and 16 user sets. Actually, you can tweek all 32 sets if you like. I like it, it's loud enough for me. It's also less $$ than the Pod or Fender!

ooooooooh, is that what the Line Out on the back of my amp is for? Is it for recording?!
so... my computer can record the tone of my amp? without a mic? |

I'm diggin' my Crate DX112J - they sound killer with Vintage 30 speakers in them. If they have a 212J then I'd look into that and swap out the speakers. |

I've played the Cyber Twin, a Line 6 head and cab, and the Behringer stuff and they all sound too electronic to me. They're amps built to sit on a showroom floor. Fun tio visit but not worth actually buying. |
