Hi, I'm new here and first off I'd like to say that it's great to finally have a smiley with horns!!! \m/ \m/ My question is this: Are the pickups in the '79 series guitars based of an aftermarket model? Or does anyone know of one that sounds like them, but maybe with a bit more sizzle, so my other (now very jealous) guitars can sound like my V? Thanks! |

Welcome to the madhouse. Keep your hands inside the car AT ALL TIMES!!!
Now, did you buy your 79 new? Is it stock? I only ask because I've seen alot of 79's selling latley that feature aftermarket Seymours or Dimarzios. The normal stock Dean brand pups are good, but there are definitely better to experiment with. |

Thanks! Yeah, I bought it new and it still has the stock pickups (they say Dean on 'em). It's one of the six with the lic. Floyd and no binding. |

Uh...well if you want more of those pups I'm not sure you can get em. You can try asking Mr. Z I suppose. Have you tried alot of different pickups? |

No, I don't want more of those, I just thought I'd heard they were modeled after a Dimarzio or sumthin. I actually wanna upgrade that one to something with a little more output/harmonics too, just thought that if they were sposeda be like something more well known I'd have something better to go off of. Bloyd, I'm technically from Odessa, but I wander all over the north side of town. Spent plenty of time out in Valrico and your neck of the woods too! |

I understand now. Try the Dimarzio Super Distortions. Lots of Duncan Pups are nice too. Their EVH pups are meant to be pretty sweet when it comes to Harmonics and Hotness. |
