Hi all! I am interested in a Hard Tail, but don't know which would be best. I do know I just want a classic black model with chrome hardware. But, is the standard rounded neck shape better than the Collector's edition V shape? I currently have an Evo Deluxe and love the neck and how does a HT neck compare?
What would I expect to pay?? $1500+?
Thanks!

The standard Hardtail neck is more like the Evo Premium neck - if you're looking for solid black maybe that will be an option next year. If a killer flame top in vintage cherry would do my #66 Hardtail is for sale. I can send you pics if you're interested it's in as new condition - $1400 + shipping. |

As stated the Collectors V-neck is different, but the Standard Hardtail had a rounded neck more like the Evo Deluxe. They are awesome guitars, I have two.
There is one on Ebay right now for $1399, "new" condition. Shop around, call a few dealers. I have found them as low as 1600 new.

V neck is superb a genine work of art no tiring of the hand and so comfortable you'll forget to put your guitar down to eat. |

Really? I imagined the V neck to be quite uncomfortable to play! Is it better than the Dean U neck? |

I'd suggest anyone try the necks before they buy. The V-neck on my '81 Z is not comfortable for me, however; the rolled binding is quite nice. I have no trouble with the neck on the standard HardTail. |

Which one? If you want the latest DEAN, buy the Collectors Edition. It has the feel of a DEAN and the look du jur. If you want more of a PRS feel, the regular Hardtail is the way to go. It (the neck) was designed to have a familliar feel to the PRS etc.. You can "expect to pay between $1600 and $2000 for a Standard Hardtail and $2200 PLUS for a collectors edition. The only way you'll get one for $1500 is if the guy owes his crack dealer.. or the IRS.. GOOD LUCK! |

Thanks guys, I have no desire to spend too much on any guitar so I would either get a Standard hard tail in black or wait on the new entry level models next year. I wonder how they will differe from the higher end?
Maybe I would just get a black standard because I love the Evo Premium/Deluxe neck! |

Jay is right on....
I have both a standard Hardtail and a PRS Custom 22 and the necks are very similar.
I played a CE Hardtail in Clearwater at DOA II and I remember it destinctly feeling like MY TC's neck.

I would have thought you'd have played a V neck when you played your brother's old TC??? |
