Just in case anyone was wondering what happens behind the curtain at the start of a BLS show I shot this little clip. The sound quality is not good because it was so loud but I thought some of you may enjoy this...

That was last year... Before that they used to open with Fire It Up and before that they opened with The Beginning At Last.

The opening tune was Godspeed and Hellbound... The crowd sung along with the whole show. I think they were louder than the band, at least from the perspective on stage. Here was someone else's perspective from the exact same show.

Possibly a lame-ass question but it looks to me like Zakk's pedal board is covered with something?

time before the last time i seen them i left during the big zakk guitar solo went to the bathroom came back 20 minutes later and he was just finishing up must have heard the same licks and runs like 20 times over all the way into the portajon .dont get me wrong zakks a great musician and song writer .But a 20 minute solo then 5 minutes of extreme delay and feedback was just ridiculous.this was at ozzfest a few years back.I think 3 minutes is sufficient to get the point across.

No, he quit cold turkey on his own. In his book he said he tried rehab once a long time ago and it lasted about a day. He said when the doctor told him he had to stop what he was doing or he was going to die he just said "OK I'm done" and that was it. He just decided it was time to slow down and did it. I'm sure he had problems stopping but either way it's been a few years since he cleaned up.

Really cool lanning, i was happy for ya when you got the vest and got to meet zakk.
About 4 years ago i got to meet zakk and hang backstage before the show and watched the show from the side of the stage and it was one of my favorite experiences ever. My son was 10 at the time and zakk gave him the mic a couple times and let him talk to the crowd, nick and zakk kept giving my wife guitar picks they used during the songs.
We had so much fun that night and he signed some autographs and took pics with us. We didnt do anything special either, before the show we was standing by the back door where zakk walks in and my wife made a joke about my son being a lil guy and its kinda hard to see because its so crowded and the next thing i know zakk gave us 4 backstage passes.

Yeah, he's one of the most genuine nice guys out there. Absolutely first class personality. I think Andrea (my wife) has a crush on JD. Laughing

Yea when I walked in the venue I wan't paying attention and Nick came right up to me and put his arm around me and said "hey dude, thanks for coming".... I didn't even realize who it was for a second because he had a hoodie on with the hood up. I was like "oh, thanks... Oh HEY NICK!" Genuinely nice guys. Not a rockstar among them. They didn't have Chad playing drums because of a visa issue so they had the drummer from In This Moment playing with them. He's a cool dude and also really nice.

I can Vouch for the Solo thing, 2008 OzzFest Texas, Zakk had a Solo , Geez Louise Shocked! I went and got a drink cuz it was by my seat , came back & he was still going at it, I mean that was by FAR the Longest Solo I have ever heard , seen , wether T.V. or whatever , damn thing was Epic!!! Twisted Evil And WOW u got "Knighted" with the BLS Vest, You My Friend must be Someone Special, I bet it stunk , screw it tho just Frame that Sucker with one of his Guitars! Unless you plan to wear it again then I understand the "Wash" thing, take it to a cleaners or put it on a Delicate cycle, that Baby is Awesome! I saw a guy out at Dime's Grave Marker with that exact same one, didn't recognize him but people were saying he was someone of importance and close to the Group of Friends...Anyways , Awesome stuff dude!

It always depends what it's written with...Never sign one with a Highlighter , always use Permanent Black or those White or Silver Markers...I have had 3 autographed since 95' and they were Never Clear-Coated & still going strong! But if u have the chance to get it Clear-Coated the "Right Way" , then by all means do it! Cuz I have seen some bad Make-Shift clear-coat jobs that make me wanna cry and slap a guy for even attempting it...But I am sure you will know what to do..& yeah I know Zakk has a Ton of those Jackets as I see em' everywhere ,but still doesn't take the fact away that it's cool he gave him one! Wink Twisted Evil Cool

The easy way to tell if the jacket is "official issue" or not is if it's cut up the sides and there are grommets up the sides with leather strapping holding it together. Not that, that can't be duplicated by someone at home but the replica ones don't have that. I just have the photos to prove mine came from Zakk. I wear mine under a hoodie jacket. I was going to frame it but I would rather wear it. Maybe some day I'll do that though.

As far as the guitar goes my bassist is a carpenter and is building me a living room table that's black with chrome diamond plating with lights inside and the guitar will be framed into the table. I'm not going to play it out anymore... I have beat on it for 2 years and now would rather preserve it. It's signed with a gold Sharpie. There was a little spot where he signed that's just a dot and I tried to rub it off and it's not rubbing off. I'm sure it's fine.

The only ZW thing I play live now is the JCM800 which is custom framed into a super heavy duty road case so it's protected from everything except tube failure.
