Well, it's my birthday on Thursday so I went out and treated myself to a couple of new pedals as nobody else wants to buy me a present.
Anyway, new band is writing songs currently and hitting the road soon, so I thought I'd go for something I'd find useful; namely a Big Muff for some fuzz and a Micro Amp for a solo boost.
Can I just make it clear right this moment, I was not a true guitarist until I bought a Big Muff and neither will you be until you own one! Holy crap, what a pedal. It's beautifully lo-fi and woolly as Martin's freshly-coiffed ass hair; I think it'll come in dead handy to whack out some strangly, fuzzy riffs.
The Micro Amp is what it is, really. No bells, whistles, frills or nipple tassles; it's just a pre-amp in a box, but it's gonna come in very handy for live lead work. It's been something I've been wanting for years and years, and it might have taken this long to get but better late than never!
Mandatory pr0n will follow below; stay tuned in the coming weeks to hear it in action and I'll have some live pornography to accompany it.

Those are sweet. Also, happy birthday. Today's my 21st, and I actually picked up a Big Muff off craigslist as my birthday gift to myself too. |

I'm just about to say happy birthday to you on Facebook, haha! Congrats on the Muff, sounds like we're both having a decent time! |

Thanks man. I guess I should check my Facebook more, I haven't logged in in like 6 months and I can't remember my password, or be bothered with going through the reset process.
But the big muff is sweet, I've been jamming it for a while today. I'm starting to get into fuzz which is why I bought it, but it doesn't sound too fuzzy to me. It's got distortion characteristics, but it reacts to my playing like a fuzz. I can't believe that I've gone this long without it. you'll have to let us know how yours sounds with a band, I can't jam mine with anyone else for a few weeks. |

Happy Birthday Dean Forum Bro!
I have a Muff and love it.., the Micro Amp is the pedal I've been curious about for quite some time.
Give us an honest full review of the Micro Amp when you have a chance |

Every guitarist should own some version of the Big Muff. When I describe it to people I ask them, have you heard Blur's "Song 2?" That song nails the Big Muff perfectly.
The funny thing is it works great for basses too. It adds a bunch of character to the bass sound. It's just a fun pedal to play around on no matter what you playing with or through.
Congrats on getting it, and of course, Happy Birthday. |

I never thought of that before, but I just gave 'Song 2' a go and right enough, it's unmistakeable! I'm currently using it for a sort of White Stripes/Raconteurs 'Hardest Button to Button' style sound. It's an absolute beast.
Tim, I'll write that review up for you as soon as I get the chance.
Also, thanks for the birthday wishes, bros! |

Also, here's an interesting video: A guy makes a bass out of a balloon and runs it through one of the Russian Big Muffs. Brilliance ensues!
