Hey guys, local player is selling a Japanese Jackson DK2M for $500.
I don't know much about Jacksons but that seems like a good price. What can you guys tell me about this guitar. Is that a decent floyd? It's not an original floyd though, is it? I've never been big into bolt-ons though.
I'm just always interested in anything made in Japan.

I owned one for a while, sounded killer with the SD Blackouts i put in it!
The floyd is just a Jackson branded licensed thing.. stayed in tune for about 15 minutes..
The major problem I had tho was the fret wire was made out of a really poor metal and the strings gouged the hell out of them, like seriousy almost needed a re-fret after 6 months.
I bought mine brand new from Tom Lee out here in Surrey for $500 bucks, I couldnt hardly hock it off for $300 when I was tired of it..
but it sure did sound rad with SD Blackouts |

I'm really curious about them too, but more the new 2012 ones. I believe now MIM vs the older MIJ ones. The silverburst w/ maple board is gorgeous. |

You couldn't sell it for $300 even with SD Blackouts??
Thanks for the info. I thought for MIJ it may be a hell of a deal but I'm really only interested in it if I can sell it off again for around the same price. I just got my Edwards recently which has been pretty sweet. Tom Lee is Canadian, so can I assume we are talking Canadian $ and Canadian market?

Are the 2012s better? Is MIM for mexico?

Campbell River huh? I probably know who it is My in-laws live there. I spend a lot of time there. |
Thats cool. It's a small world. I would have to make a drive for it but if it's a sweet deal, it would be worth it. I've been craving the V's lately so would probably just sell it within no time. |

I was really GASing for a white one of those, LOVED the look of the white with the maple and black sharktooths and Jackson Logo.
My first "Real" guitar was a MIJ Jackson DR3 in the Mid 90's and I loved it, I played it to death. I still have it, but it isn't playable. Wanted to get something similar for nastalgic purposes.
I played one and it didn't feel that great to me, and I really didn't care for the neck profile. My 90's Jackson has a super flat thin neck. I found that the ESP Thin U feels more like that guitar than any USA/Import Jackson I have ever played. |

Yes MIM is mexico, not sure if they're better than the MIJ's though. The newer MIM fenders blow away the older ones and some come dangerously close to the MIA's. Plus the new DK2M has JB/59 which I like better than the older ones, and a new FRT2000 floyd rose which is better than the Jackson branded one, also a direct swap for an OFR unlike the Jackson one.
I remember a few years back not really liking the older DK2 neck but never spent much time with them, so maybe I could have. All I know is I still and never have liked Ibanez necks. |
