Believe me, I got it cheaper than what the new dot necks are going for, and it plays like a dream.

I love hollowbodies, and that guitar is right up my alley. For it's age it looks great. Are the pickups original?

Yep, the only thing that's not original are the tuners. That's why I got it cheaper than a new dot or block inlay one. The guy at guitar center told the seller he would have got $1000 more, had the original tuners still been there.

You can probably grab a original set of tuners for $100-150 on MLP. Cool classic there Felice!

Here's the funny thing... When I wanted to play guitar, I wanted a Hollowbody. Kept bugging my mom for a Teisco Del Rey one. finally bought a cheap harmony one for $10 from a friend around the block. Ready to laugh to see who was my first inspiration on one of these guitars?

Ron, I'm gonna leave the guitar as is. If the Trapeze breaks, I'll put on a stop tailpiece. Thank You anyway. Very Happy

It has a volute, which Gibson says was introduce as early as 1969. The headstock pitch is also 14 degrees. This thing could be a 1966. Like I said, I don't think Guitar Center knows there stuff well. I got a Mesa Boogie MK2C+ from them back in 2001 for $875 + tax. The going rate for those amps back then was about $1300.

I just checked out a reference. It looks like it might be a 67. But the 3 piece Mahogany neck still tells me it's a 70.

I quit smoking regular cigarettes. I've been on the electronic one since October.

I'm also seriously considering putting a stop tailpiece on mine. I've been reading in Harmony Central the guitar isn't considered collectible as the 50s- and 60s. But it's a players guitar, and fetched a higher dollar amount because of age. Some guy bought one from the same time period as mine and this is what his looks like.

Gorgeous guitar. I would leave the tailpiece as it is, looks classier to me.

The greatness of the Gibson semis continues, even if the continuance is 40 years old! Mine is a '71. Wahi'

Addendum: Get a strap deserving of the chore!
