What's the difference besides the 50 extra watts? I have only had Duals so I don't know.

Neither do I. It's just more tubes to replace, and with PAs today, you really don't need more than a 50wt head on the stage.

The triple has a lot more bottom end ,and crushing low end. 150 watts tube is like 600 watts solid state ! Lol

Talk about a overated fizzbox....

the only way your going to get a decent sound out of a triple rec is to crank it and you better have the right cab or your going to see a not so impressive bottomend

Watts are watts - they are not measured differently for tubes and SS.

The ONLY difference is what happens when you run out of clean headroom.

SS amps do not "clip musically" whereas tubes have built in compression that produce musical distortion beyond the clean output level.

. I have three mesa recto cabs. Think ill be ok. The recs are only fizz boxes if the user can't eq the amp

. Yes I understand the tube thing . Ill put my 100 watt tube amp against any solid state 100 watt head and see what louder.

The rec series of amps sound great with a boost. 0d808 every who has one has one knows that. Problem with these heads is people don't no how to eq them . Mesa got a little nuts with these . The tremble and presence are pre amp stages and it can get a little crazy if the driver can't drive..

well put the triple threw the test and A/B ed it with my old duel i sold to a friend as i wish he was not there i could see it in his face that he wants the triple now lol. same cab, guitar ect.. The triple is awesome as it has CRAZY head room and sounds great at low vol to wall cracking volume. it sounds allot different than the duel . has way more punch and low end . I mean ALOT of low end. It was just what i was after. The duel always sounded good at low vol but would change tone when loud. The triple does not and stays just how i want it. who ever said you need to crank this amp for tone is a retard Laughing and is talking out his ass. so if you like the duel You WILL love the triple. I feel like the mistakes in the duel they fixed with the triple. O and i boost the amp with a maxon OD808. the chan 2 on the triple boosted nails mark 4 tones also. Its really a great amp.

I have regular Boogies, and some kid wanted me to set his single rectro once, because he couldn't turn the gain past 5 without it squealing. I tried, and I couldn't do a damn thing with it.

Are both the dual and triple you tested the 3 channel models? Or is one a 2 and the other a 3? The 2 and 3 channel models sound different. I think the 2 channel Recs sound better to my ears. They have more gain for sure.

they are both 3 chan lanning. I boost them up front so gain is not an issue at all.

Not the point. The older 2 channel heads sound better tonally. They do have more gain but it's kinda different. See if you can locate one to try out.

I have tryed one and also owned a 2 chan duel . The orange channel on the new 3 channel is a spitting image of the old 2 chan sound i love both amps . this is my first triple as it smokes any duel i have ever played
