Need some help here and sorry if I'm in the wrong place for it. I recentley bought a new humbucker pick up cover from greasygrooves.com and since putting it in it is squealing like crazy. I've tried putting electrical tape over the screws and the slugs since some of the wax fell off, but it is still doing the same thing. I need major help here. I'm not anywhere near a technician or a luthier. I would love any help that I can get. |

It proabbly needs to be wax potted. You can't just put covers on open humbucker coils without doing it properly.
Check you tube for tutorials on how to wax pot humbuckers. |
They were waxed. Alot of people are telling me I may need to do it again. |

They are not wax potted, but they are epoxy potted. (Inserts smiley face here.) |

I installed two of the chrome covers from greasy groove as well ..
Had the same problem.
Ended up learning how to melt wax into the covers and the squeaks went away.
Its really easy and cheap to do...didn't take five minutes.
Problem solved.
Youtube is the place to learn how.
Basically you melt wax until its liquid. Pot on the stove, whatever.
Fill your upside-down cover over half way full and immediately shove your pickup into it.
Hold it there until it cools into a solid.
It should gush out everywhere and coat the entire pickup. Bottom tootoo
Then just stick it back in the guitar.
I've also had to solder the cover to the back of the pup to ground out out better |
