Have any of you guys or gals ever tried this mic? It looks interesting with the eq selection. I'm considering getting on to run with my SM57. |

I'm tossing around the idea of getting an E609 at the moment. I don;t know if I'll need the EQ options. Are the E609 and 906 so different when set on flat? |

I would do that. I like the sound I get from the e906 with my sm57, but I like the sound of the 57 by its self more than the sound of the e906. I got the e906 to mic my amp at church, but I wasn't crazy about the sound, I do like the sound though when mixed with the 57, a little more 57 than e906, and it sounds good in my opinion. Of course I play clean with a deluxe reverb at church so it might be different with higher gain. |

Really, when talking sound (from mics) there are a lot of variables involved...most of it depends on placement. I can easily place a 57 over one speaker and the e906 over another and one will sound better. Then switch them and all of a sudden the other will sound better...but different. So many things to consider i.e. closer to the cone...on the edge of the speaker...against or away from the cloth etc. Then there's EQing the mics, blending etc. Its all very subjective and circumstantial.
Personally, for me the 57 is a generic work horse whereas the e906 seems a bit stronger and more flexible.
Ideally, you should go with both if you can. |
