Day 3 of preproduction is under way. 3 more weeks and we should be ready to start recording. Nick Rowe, formerly of Bloodsimple is co-producing and doing our pre-production along with Garth Richardson. Here is a live camera feed. It may interest you or you may fall asleep. The sound should be off, if you're wondering. We don't want any sound being broadcasted for interest of the new material. Either way, feel free to check out what we're up to and chat in the camera window. We'll have a more clear and faster camera feed in a few days.

9 new songs written so far and 2 more weeks of pre-production to go. We're hoping to get 5-6 more before we start picking and choosing. The band name is changing as well. I was informed of this 2 days ago lol... All's well that end's well so DD will be a thing of the past. We're working on the new name now. Until then though we'll keep the same old sites.

If you've built a brand worth interest; why change now?

Because I'm the only original member left of that band. We're no longer a metalcore band and we don't want the old music associated with us. This came as a smart decision based on our business plan and our producer agrees. I tend to listen when he speaks. It's a smart move and will allow us to be much bigger in the long run. Dodging Daylight was a small metalcore band with a small following from Vancouver. This new band will be a different thing altogether. Mainly that it's not a metalcore band in any way shape or form lol.

The name change hasn't actually happend yet but it's coming. There are some ideas being tossed around but we have a month before we need to have an definite answer.

I'd say it's still heavy music but we could probably open for Volbeat or Rob Zombie and do well with the crowd. I dunno how to explain it. The sound is heavy rock/metal but the style is not what it was before. It's not all chugging, chromatic riffs and breakdowns anymore. Not to say there isn't any of that but it's a variety of sound this time and much more dynamic.

Kind of... The bass player we have had for the last 6 months is still in and we're using the drummer from the first EP who has played with us live locally, so not totally clean but if you heard the new stuff and then googled DD you would think it was 2 different bands. So a name change was suggested. This happens often enough with bands. I was a little hesitant but I was assured it was for the better so I'm not worried about it. The new stuff has more of a bluesy influence, some Iggy Pop influence, some Alice In Chains influence and some Melvins influence.... It runs the gamut. But we're tuned down to B so it's heavy.
