I've looked on all the major mailorder websites and they all say the Dime amps have been discontinued. What happened? And does anyone know where I can get a new one? |

The amps must be a POS or very overpriced for what they are. The marketplace has spoken! |

This is what I gather from that as well. I think Dean was the distributor of the Dime.
I had the Bad Cat Cougar and like all licensed amps in that price range they are made in taiwan or Vnam as is my Marshall DSL 40c The problem with amps like the Bogener alchemist (line ^) and The bad cat cougar ( I think Krank licensed)Once they are discontinued they are orphaned for any type of repair or warranty. I got the 3 yr warranty from GC on my Marshall. The Bad Cat Cougar 50 failed at 2 weeks brand new out the box. I could have had it replace but Decided that the British sound was better found at the source. |

The store I used to work we had several these that just set no one seamed to like them. I had a smaller one for practice that was okay. By the 212 and Halfstack sounded like s#%t IMO with the stock speakers |

I tried one in a store through the matching cab and wasn't very impressed, but I wasn't really expecting much from the cab. I thought it could sound good and I still wanted to pick one up just to have, but didn't want to pay $399 for the head.
I saw they were being discontinued and I picked mine up from Amazon when I saw all the major stores were blowing them out for $249.
Amazon still has some in stock fo $317, I know my local GC still had them in stock too.
They can still be found atm. |

Find their contact information there.
It's not listed but I KNOW they have a brand new DIME 1/2 stack in stock. They are a Dean dealer, and I know they ship stuff as well.
Hit them up and let them know I sent you! |

u would be amazed at how many teens dont have any idea who dime was everybodys so avenged seven fold these days.Mine sounded pretty good but when u used the high gain the volume dropped which was retarded cause thats the main use for the amp.and it definetly didnt have as much gain as dime used.I thought for the money it was a good amp. oh yeah and the useless feature to combined the clean sound with the dirty who the fck does that!
The whole riding the coat tails of dime for dean is starting to fade.maybe we can get more classic guitars and less dimes with crazy graphics now?if one more razorback comes out im gonna throw up! |

Hmmm.. I knew the 2x12 was being discontinued.... but I had not heard the head and cabinets or the small combo was dropping as well.
The Armadillo Enterprises site still lists them.
http://www.armadilloent.com/dimeamps.html
And you can still purchase them on the dime amp web site:

Didnt know about them being discontinued! Now that Randall has new amps coming out and I have seen a few vidoes from NAMM 2013 were they have mentioned Dimes name a few times about their solid state amps...I wonder if Randall is in the works of something in the near future! I doubt it though! |

I've heard many youtube videos of them sounding good. Kirk Windstein uses them and he has a great tone. |

Anyone had any experience with the small 20 watt version? They still have some of those for sale in the UK and if they sound decent (for bedroom play of course) im considering ordering one. |

20 watts is probably too much for bedroom play, unless it is an SS amp. Remember that each time that you double the watts of an amp, you only increase the output volume by 3dB! A 20 watt head will drive a 4X12 cab very well and will be very loud! My 15W tube amp is mostly too loud for my office.
A 5 watt amp/head would be great for a bedroom, but an SS combo would probably work better. Yes, there are many SS amps/combos that actually sound better at low volumes than any tube amp. My original Crate amp (still made in USA) was really good at low volume (and high volume) at 120 watts. It was originally a combo w/2 12's, but I cut it down to a head and bought a 4X12 cab for it. The guy that I sold it to 8 years ago is still using it (and he is now a 'pro'). |

Ok,
I was just in communication with someone in the know in Tampa.
Here is what I was told:
"D100 Heads and Cabs are still in the line as well as the DBT practice amp.
Currently D100C combo is an active sku but we have none on hand and none on order."
So I take it the 2/12 combo's future is in question, but the other are still in production.
Hope that helps! |
