im looking at another amp i want to run 2 amps and 1 cab.my cab says one jack saying 16 ohm mono and then a switch to switch to stereo it has another jack sayins 8ohm stereo then under it it says 4 ohms.now can i switch to stereo and use both jacks as stereo i think i cancause it says right and left.what ohm do i select on my heads?
I was extremely skeptic about the "Post your free stuff" thread when I looked at it and subsequently asked for anything that would improve my low-end guitar's performance. I got a $70 pickup for free with install instructions and "quality service." Therefore, I'd like to give wyd-open the majority of my thanks. Let's give it up for him, guys Others include Mystify, what-a-cool-username, Jimmy King, revolutionman, AustinModels, and damigu for answering my numerous questions in the last couple of weeks and even though I've been playing for about 3 years, I still consider myself a noobert, especially after learning what I did in a few days time. All in all, thanks to everyone who has helped me because now I am that much more informed/knowledgeable.

Hey guys. I'm aiming to get a new first Razorback next week. Which should I go for, a Razorback V255 or a 255 Union Jack? Thanks for the info. I love both guitars but can only have one. Gonna be doing a DrumCity Guitar Land visit next week in Colorado and I hope I have the money by then. I'll let you know how that goes. Have a nice one!

Hey guys, I'm not sure if you've seen this but there are some cool plugins available for free online. I recently ordered Amplitube 3 and the stealth pedal. While watching videos on youtube I found some free pluggins. Apparently you run them in your DAW. I loaded the "Legion" amp into reaper last night but didn't try it. My Asio interface is not here yet and my mic input lags so bad its unbearable. I downloaded Kefir and some cabinet models as well. I have the links for those at home. I'm on break at work now and thought I'd see if anyone else has given this a whirl.
I initially thought I would only be able to re-amp with this but I imagine I could set reaper to monitor somehow allowing me to hear the Legion amp model. Check out youtube for some sweet tones. I was really impressed.
Here is the site with VST's:

i want a freaking seven string jackson v with black ghost flames with a reverse headstock in the worst way.. how would someone go about making a custom order jackson .. and how much would it cost .. anyone know how to go about that ??
I picked up one of these Fractal Audio Axe-FX units.
These things are so controversial. Some guys swear by them while others say they are nothing more then a glorified Pod at 5 times the price.
I love my Engl Powerball but I figure I can do some overdubs with the Axe FX. In my recent recordings I've done all tube amp with a single overdub of modeling (usually a J-Station or Black Box). The Axe FX blows away those modelers.
Best case scenario is that I'll love the thing and use it all the time.
Worst case scenario I'll use it as a killer FX unit. I've got no guitar FX and I know those things rule for FX.

Need some opinions on this very rough sample of my next big project.
It is going to have real bass tracks, hopefully better guitars and a complete vocal track.
In other words, biggest project I've done so far.

This is a rough sample, not mixed and mastered, and everything is subject to change.
But so far, how do you like it?

Question on Dean USA..............
For you USA Dean owners. I have been kicking around the Idea of ordering a Dean USA Razorback completely built to my wants desires for that model. Price is around $3200 for it. and that is Ball Park.
My Question is, Are the Usa version of the Razorbacks really $2000 dollars better than their import counterparts? Or for that matter any USA, Versus the imports?
Thanks, Nightrain

New Leslie West Sig???
by Graunke on Mon Aug 30, 2010 8:58 pm
Leslie West' facebook page, said over the weekend that there is sometihng sweet coming from of our favorite winged manufacturer.
He didnt' say what, and he said it was going to be unique and awesome. Or something along those lines.
Any ideas? Anyone in the know?
Picked up a few WLP (white label promos) this weekend, one was Les Dudek's "Ghost Town Parade" lp. He's a great blues guitar plater with elements of Southern Rock. If you get a chance, listen to "Central Park"
Listen to the whole track and post your opinion. You might need to find a better quality recording, I just did a quick search without actually listening to the link
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XzupiAewmNk&feature=related
His guitar tone is sick, I love the late 60s early 70s blues rock solos. He touches on Frank Marino a lot in this song which steps a bit away from his normal style. Carmine Appice was his drummer back then. Most every song on the lp is a jammer but Central Park is definitely the best track on the album

I've gone over to the Mesa side I guess. Got a Nomad Forty-Five. Sounds great, has some V30s in it, was just retubed last week. 3 Channel(1 clean 2 distorted) All the channels independent EQ, toggle to switch from clean/crunch. Then vintage/modern on the distortion. The pilot light is cool it's two colors being read and blue. Has a 5 button footswitch(CH1, CH2, CH3, Solo, and reverb.) IDK what else to say I'm tired and am going to bed. I'll type more on the 'morrow.
Ohh and here's a bonus pick of a butterfly that was on my car.

Joe perry signature les paul
i have fallen for this joe perry signature les paul its trans black with a white pickguard .. and i have only seen images of it none for sale or specs .. i was wondering if anyone on here knew any info on them
Hey all. I did a trade a little while back and got this Washburn WM24 brand new for $199 from MusicFarm.
But I digress.
It's AWESOME. Other than my Gibson and my Carvin, this could be one of the greatest 6's I have ever played. The neck is lightning fast, and it's sooooo comfortable to play. Plus I have wanted a white guitar with black binding for years. These things were like $500 new, and even that price is a steal. For $199, if anyone can get in touch with MusicFarm, BUY ONE
Quick video. I'm not any good, but I figure this will give an idea of the tone on this thing. I put an SD Invader in the bridge and this is plugged directly into my 5150 combo.

More DOA 09 Soltero Pron *Gig Pics Huzzah!*
by Graunke on Sun Aug 29, 2010 5:32 pm
Did a gig with a Blues/Classic Rock band last night. Band is called Jumpin' Shadows. Had a pretty good time. It's out of my element as far as what my previous bands were playing, but I loved it. The Blues are so much more expressive it seems. Less is more. Had a great time.
The lead singer/harp player has a herniated disc, so he had to sit the whole show, and had a nice supply of pain killers. He did not share them.
I met up with these guys through the Harley dealer that I work for. It was a decent time. The blues scene in rural MN is rather dead though. I'll admit that.
The SOltero Bella Noir, is still my favorite go to axe. The ebony board, the neck carve, and the tone, my god the tone. With this group, I dialed my gain back a bit more than usual, and it just sang. I love how good it sounds. Sure is hard to keep clean though.
Band Just Recorded - KRANKENSTEIN and DEAN V tones within!
Hey guys, It'd be great if you could check out my band's stuff on Myspace -
http://www.myspace.com/vortexthrashbanduk
We have just got out of the studio and recorded Rancid Manifestation, and another two tracks which will be online soon.
The guitar I used to record is a Dean V Spalted Maple, with a BKP Warpig in the neck, and through a Krankenstein +
It would be class if you could let me know what you think
anyone do them??
i have 3-4 Ml's need doing !!
Tryed too find people but allways in usa or too busy too do ML,
thanks guys !
So I've just been looking on kijiji lately for an organ just for its tubes and I came across a Hammond S6. It looks like its got quite a bit (about twenty pre and 5 power tubes). So I'm asking if anyone would know what tubes it has and if they're any good. I'm hoping it has some 12AX7s (ECC83) and idk maybe some 6L6's or 6V6's. The guy is selling the organ for about 300 and I think I could sell the tubes for more than that and still keep some for myself.
Any ideas?
Protect Thy Ears!!!!
by Büdda on Sat Aug 28, 2010 6:06 pm
So we all realize that music is a hearing art. And, we have all heard warning after warning about protecting our hearing as musicians, especially when playing/rehearsing live where volume levels are much much louder than what is normal pressure levels for our ear holes. Some of us have even experienced hearing loss, tinnitus, etc.
Let me share a little story with you about my hearing.
As some of you know, I spent the first 15 years out of high school busting my ass on the road. Pretty much 15 years straight with little down time or time off stage, away from loud music. In the trenches, filling in for this band and that band, taking gigs where ever I could egt them, be it with my own band or sub-ing for other bands.
I always thought, " Nah my hearing will be okay, been doing this crap for years and I have no noticeable hearing loss- I will be fine..."
Three years ago, I noticed I was hearing alot of hiss and frequent ringing in my ears....Tinnitus. At the time I was still playing live with my own band, and still not using hearing protection. The ringing after a gig or rehearsal got so bad at times, I found I was having difficulty falling asleep, and I noticed that the hearing in my right ear (the ear closest to my rig) was diminishing, and I found I was asking people to repeat things to me, even in a quiet office type setting. I would even turn my head to them so as to point my left ear at them to hear clearly.
Fast forward to today. Since I relocated to Iowa, I have not played live or in a loud rehearsal setting for more than a year now. I had seen my doctor a few months after moving here one of the issues was my tinnitus - but even at absolutely quiet atmospheres, the ringing and pressure in my right ear was almost painful- felt alot like what the ears feel like when flying. Was not a whole lot that could be done short of taking a medication, which was not an option for me as I hate taking manufactured meds and wont even take pain killers or muscle relaxers.
Long story short, the only thing I could do was deal with it, and pay attention to protecting what hearing I still have.
My point is that about 1 year since putting my ears in a loud stressful situation, The tinnitus is gone, I no longer have the ringing and painful pressure and hissing static-y noise. Unfortunately my left ear is %50 deaf and that will never rectify itself. However, a lack of loud sound levels has definitely and noticably improved some areas of my hearing issues.
Moral of this little story...PROTECT YOUR EARS!!!!! Don't be a tough guy and mistakenly think you're ears will be fine and it wont happen to you. Don't be a dumbassed moron and continue with the thought that "the cheap affordable ear plugs muffle the sound so I wont use 'em".
If you consider your self a professional musician or a professional musician to be, or if you play loud live, rehearsal or in your cute bedroom with the transformers sheet and blanket set, Spend the money and get yourself a real proper set of ear plugs. They make them especially for audio applications and designed them to reduce pressure levels while maintaining the integrity and fullness/clearness of the sound and are infinitely reusable if you take care of them.
If you're going to spend thousands getting professional quality gear, so you sound professional, then spend the extra $50 and get yourself some ear plugs that are going to do the job you need them to while protecting your ears. Once your hearing is gone you cant get it back, and in all my years doing this, I have yet to see a musician performing in a loud sound level atmosphere with hearing aids.
I realize that most of you jokers will have a snide or smart-assed comment, but in the privacy of your own mind I urge you to consider the dangers. Don't let years go by and end up regretting something that could have been fixed with a little forethought, love and respect for yourself and a small amount of money.
You will be better off when you're old and you can still hear your grand kids laugh and sing and talk to you.
Dean Soltero owners - Do I grab a blowout-priced import?
These things are showing up at sick, low prices. I can get a white one for $369, but can't try it first. Will I regret not jumping on it??
I'm about to pull the trigger. How's it for heavier tones/music?
Slayer, Megadeth and Testament Phx AZ
Or as I called it after it was over... The Chris Broderick Show.
Testament - Alex was on Fire! just amazing to watch him play. The whole band was tighter than ever. Great setlist, a bunch of old stuff. I haven't heard them play Trial by Fire in like 10-15 years or so. Dog Faced Gods... holy crap, I didn't see that one coming at all!!! The original line up (minus Louie) is is the best version of Testament for sure but i'm also a little partial to the James Murphy/Steve Smyth/Steve Digorgio era as well. Bostaph is a monster.
Slayer - Holy sh!t were they loud, my ears are still ringing. Must have been trying to mask that horrendous garbage they call tone by mass volume. I have never heard amps that just sound like dogsh!t, I've never liked Marshall Amps... ever, but whatever those 2 morons are using in the chain just makes them sound like Martins Ass after eating Flying J hotdogs after a 3 week bender of Cocain and Jack Daniels and few dozen egg farts. They played spot on, also played a ton of old sh!t. Tom sounded great and Lombardo killed it. Jeff and Kerry nailed their wacky solos (if you can call them solo's). They need to switch amps way bad, every year I see them their tone sucks more than the year before.... it's amazing with technology being what it is today, a pod sounds better than what they use!!
Megadeth - Or as I called it after they walked off stage, the Chris Broderick Show. Megadeth had the best sound all night. Tight, Crisp and Clear... just Beautiful, A perfect example of how a Marshall is supposed to sound. Megadave sounded amazing playing all of Rust in Peace. It was truly awesome to see Jr. back and playing his 2 new CS Jackson Basses that he had bulit to the specs of his old ones that he played back in the day, his bass tone rules. Shawn Drover, you are the weakest Link... good bye. I'm sorry but this guy is the most lifeless drummer ever. He has a good meter but he has zero flash and his fill are just ok at best... he seems more like an 80's Rock drummer that just learned double bass and is trying his best to be a metal drummer. They need Nick Menza back and they would dominate the world. Daves Playing was awesome, his solos are getting better and cleaner every time I see him. After the show was over, the band did a band thank you bow... then Dave comes back out by himself and takes a bow after clapping at the crowd smiling and walking around the stage letting everyone in the venue know who he is. What a Jackass...
The Chris Broderick Show. Holy Fuggin Sh!T!!!! He drilled every solo, every vibrato, every trill, every lagato. His lead tone just smokes! He didn't look at his fretboard during any of his solo's, I honestly think he is the best Metal lead Guitarist right now as far as skill and performance, stage presence and Tone. He had a sick White Ibanez, man that guitar looks like it plays itself. The girls up front were all dripping wet when he smiled at them while he ripped that fretboard to pieces, my wife is in love with him now . He just owned the whole show, Flawless Victory!!!
Greatest Riff? (Opinion time!)
by Klebitz on Sat Aug 28, 2010 4:40 pm
Hey guys!
I'm making this thread because i've been noticing some of the songs in my library have outstanding riffs. The following are songs that i picked based on the awesomeness of their riffs. (I'm not preferring A over B, these are just my opinions on some of the most rockin' riffs.)
In no particular order...
Whitesnake - Still of The Night
Audioslave - Show Me How To Live
Guns N' Roses - Paradise City (verse riff)
The Outlaws - Ghost Riders In The Sky
Iron Maiden - The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg
Pantera - The Sleep
There they are guys, i don't doubt i'll get flamed for a couple of these songs, but i think i'm a little used to that
Looking forward to your replys!
Thanks
Fender hitching up their prices
So I've been in the market for a new Fender the past while now, got in contact with a few local stores about it and found out that apparently Fender are going to be jacking up their prices something shocking pretty soon.
Did a little research and found this on the website GuitarCenterSucks.com
| Quote: |
Just a bit of a heads up:
Fender has let us know that in the upcoming months they are going to
be instituting a pretty massive price increase across all lines and
all retailers. While they have not disclosed the exact amounts to me
yet, you can expect these increases to be in the range of $200-300 on
their base line american models with proportional increases throughout
all lines.
Just letting you know so if you were in the market for a Fender, best
not to tarry.
|
Pretty crummy news, especially for someone like me with very limited funds. Moral of the story kiddies, if you want a new Fender any time soon you'd best get your skates on. On a related note, I might be seeing some of you UK'ers in the Trading Forum pretty sharpish...
I wonder if this is going to carry over to all of the Fender tributaries like Jackson?
