Do you De-Tune your Dean when you store it for a week +
I do... with temperature and humidity changes here (NJ- 4 seasons), I tend to tune down a half step after each use just to keep the tension on the neck light. Just curious to see what everyone else does...

Dean Owners of America Newsletter - Vol. 3, No. 2
Hi, everbody! I hope you are all doing well. Houston has not been the same for the last month will this SuperBowl hype. They have just about turned this town upside down. Some of the City Council members got free tickets and everybody is up an uproar. What gets me is that they ask for volunteers to clean up the whole town and they don't get free tickets! Not that I care - I don't like football anyway. But I do like Dean Guitars and that's whey we're here, ain't it ?!? I have way too much to talk about this month so here we go!!
DOA III IS ONLY 4 WEEKS AWAY !!!
I almost don't know where to start here...! I have covered all of the details in past threads, but I sure don't want to leave anything out. DOA III will take place in Clearwater, FL at Dean Guitars World Headquarterson Feb. 27th and 28th. If you haven't made plans to attend, there is still time. I blocked out 15 rooms at the Wingate Inn and they are all gone. In fact, a few procrastinators found this out the hard way! (cough cough...chuck...cough cough) Check the DOA section of the message board if you still need a room. There are several hotels in the area, most of which are comparable in price. For those of you who will be staying elsewhere, the Wingate Inn has a nice breakfast area where we all usually hang out. Once you get checked in to your hotel, feel free to come on over the the Wingate and hang out on Friday evening before we head over to the party. There will be maps on hand to help you find your way over to Kapoc Gardens where the party will be held.
Can you believe they let us in this place? I swear, last year I felt like I should have been wearing a tuxedo at this place - it's that nice! Elliott spared no expense to make us feel welcome with a fine catered buffet and open bar. We will have to take turns keeping track of how many trips Dave (Hunter) makes to the bar. His wife will be there, too, so I am sure he will show a little restraint.
On Saturday, we will head over to the Dean Guitars offices and spend the day checking out the guitars. This is the Artist's Room. Every model made by Dean Guitars is on display here.
Wouldn't it be great if you local guitar shop looked like this. Come to think of it, from what I hear, this is exactly what Bass and Treble Music looks like! Dave has over 80 Dean guitars in stock at any given time.
We had 19 registered DOA members in attendance at DOA II - we have over 30 listed to be there this year. I can only imagine how big this event will be in 5 or 6 years.
One of the coolest things about a DOA meeting is getting to see the guitars in all stages of construction. Here we see Randall, Dizzy and Pete the webguy checking out a Dean Cadillac before the finish has been applied. What may seem like an "okay" top really come to life after the paint is sprayed.
Pat Baker of Dean Guitars ,along with his band, will be the featured entertainment on Friday night. David Smith and Bad Karma will also be on hand to play a few tunes for us. Just like last year, you will have a chance to step up on stage and show off your chops if you like. However, stagetime is very limited so if you want to play, send me a note at bravedave@deanguitars.com and let me know. Just bring your favorite guitar and you can sit in with Pat and the guys, but bear in mind, they play primarily classic rock tunes.
We are going to have over 50 people in attendance, so we will do our best to keep things organized and make sure that everyone has a great time. If you have any questions, by all means, contact me at bravedave@deanguitars.com and I will do my best to help you out.
DEAN GUITARS ROCK THE WINTER NAMM SHOW !!!
The NAMM show was two weeks ago and the numbers are in. Dean Guitars set a new record for orders. When I got my first look at the new Hartail Select, I was floored. Apparently so were the dealers - the first run of this new model will total 400 pieces! If you are attending DOA III, you will get to see these guitars long before they hit the stores. They are fantastic! The fit and finish are much better than you would expect from an import guitar.
The USA Pro Series guitars were also a big hit this year. The mahogany bodied version of the Time Capsules had been in the planning stages for over a year and, as usual, they are just what the doctor ordered. Just one more example of how the crew at Dean Guitars knows what the public wants.
One of the best things about the NAMM show is seeing all of the big name artists doing demonstrations. This impromptu jam between Brian Bromberg and Jeff Berlin was just awesome. Brian was playing his signature bass strung with nylon strings. He played lead runs while Jeff held down the groove.
uh.......ya know, sometimes it's best just to not say anything at all.
NO !!! PLEASE GOD..MAKE IT STOP !!! These little things are the guitar player's equivalent to Kryptonite !!!
DOA MEMBER OF THE MONTH !!!
This month's featured DOA meber is Alan (UF Dean Player). Alan is a student working on a law degree and is seen here playing his Dean Hardtail. Alan started playing guitar when he was 18. His parents bought him in inexpensive acoustic guitar and he later moved up to a Dean Exotica FM in Flame Blue. Since then, Alan has made a guitar purchase that wasn't a Dean.
Alan has a very impressive collection of Dean guitars (for a young punk) and the next addition will be the centerpiece...a numbered Hardtail already purchased by his parents for his graduation present.
NEW DOA MEMBERS !!!
Well, whaddya know ?!? We had a record number of new recruits in January. Here's the list of the newbies!!!
Paige / AmpliFIRE
Bill / Armitage
Josh / HereticHulk(and about time, too...)
Tom / Tom
Rod / rlm5150
Bart / Baco
Heidi / Rich's girlfriend
Shawn / morebel5
Jeff / Jeff_H
Adam / defconfive
Richard / CherryBurstV
Dave / joe6string
Taz / paintedangel
John / ozzdad
Craig / Lev008
David / Canadian Dean Lover
Ernesto / ernesto
Jorgen / goggen
Jeff / lowridin' deanaholic
Craig / Craigaxe
Patsy / plnz
Rex/31strings
This is a record for sure. We had a really slow period last year after DOA II but things are really picking up. More and more new members have just bought their first Dean guitar or bass. Word's getting around, huh?
VINTAGE DEAN GUITAR OF THE MONTH !!!
1977 Cherryburst V, Serial # 77 00127. So far, this is the oldest Dean we have seen. This belongs to a private collector. As you can see for yourself, this is one fine guitar, and judging by the market, this is probably one of the most collectible Deans around. I particularly like the double-white pickups, which are characteristic of the very early Dean guitars.
That's all for this month. Take care and keep playin' those Deans !!
"Dave needed a new set of strings. History was changed forever that fateful November day when he asked President Kennedy to take a left at Dealy Plaza to look for a music store".
woooooohoooooo!

Speaking Of Needing More Info On Your Dean's Specs.......
by Jeff_H on Sun Feb 01, 2004 11:33 pm
.....I would still like to know which finish I have on my Hardtail. Not that it will make any difference in how much I love it, but I'm a sucker for details. I did as suggested and popped the pickups out when I changed strings and conditioned the fretboard. No markings at all in any of the cavities, but I was very impressed with the cleanliness and finish underneath. Great attention to detail. I also ended up with a JB/PG instead of the JB/59'. No biggie either way, as I will switch them for a custom set of Duncans anyhow.
I would also like to know what type/guage fretwire is used on the HT's. I need a re-fret on another guitar, and like these so much I would like to go with the same type.
If I were to post my serial #, could someone at Dean at least tell me which finish it is?
Thanks in advance.

It was a cool show we did at a little coffee house in Laporte, IN. we brought about 130 people which is alot to us. I love it.
have fun guys.
Mick and Paul fancied a pint or two but didn't have a lot of
money, all together they came to a staggering 50 pence.
Mick said 'Hang on I have got an idea' - went to the next
butchers shop and came out with one large Cumberland Sausage.
Paul 'Are you crazy? Now we haven't got any money left at all
Mick 'Don't worry - just follow me' and went into the next
pub where he immediately ordered two pints and two large Jack Daniel's'
Paul 'Now you have lost it - do you know how much trouble we
will be in -we haven't got any money!!'
Mick 'Don't' worry - I have got a plan - Cheers'
They had their drinks and Mick said 'OK, I will now stick the sausage
through my zip - you will go on your knees and put it in your mouth'
Said and done - the landlord noticed it - went berserk and threw them
out.
They continued this, pub after pub, getting more and more drunk all for
free.
At the 10th pub Paul said ' Mate - I don't think I can continue this any
longer
I am pissed and my knees are killing me'
Mick 'How do you think I feel - I lost the sausage in the 3rd pub'

What's up with Eric Johnson's hair??? And, I got a new bass
I was at my local Guitar Center last night, buying a bass. They have the little sound-proof room where all the high end Gibsons and Marshall stuff is, and when I glanced in there, I saw the back of someones head....it looked like the old George Lynch hair when he used to have it with gray and black streaks. But when the dude turned around, it was Eric Johnson. He played a bit, and I could still hear it outside, but man, he looks weird with his hair that way. Wonder why he did that?
BTW, I got a KILLER deal on a real nice bass! The normal selling price for this bass was $750, but they were closing them out. It was first cut to $499, and then to $318, which is what I paid for it. It's got active EMG's, and a nice quilted maple top. Plays great, too.

Roger Waters The Wall Live in Berlin DVD - great stuff
Watching this DVD again at the office tonight. Man, what a great show. The stage is huge, he got international support, and even though I don't like all the artists he got to help, the show just kicks some taint. One of the few concerts that make me go - Wow, what an awesome show, must have been something else to have been there.
Were any of our forumites at the show?
LOL new WASHBURG DIMEBAG signature turd!
Sorry but all these Dimebag signature thingies get outta hand and this one is ugly too!
Question about starting out
I have a young cousin who really wants to learn to play guitar but kind of lives in the middle of nowhere. I've heard that the Metal Method DVD series was pretty damned good. Has anyone used these DVD's that can give a review? Also, if you have the set lying around and want to part with them, I'd happily buy them from you for my cuz.

Anyone read about this Gorgoroth show in Poland?
I'm not a black metal fan (unless you count the Venom album) - but looks like they put on quite a show to say the least. Oh well, here is some reading material for those with some time to kill
http://www.teppah.prv.pl/
some pics under the Gorgoroth area towards the bottom - i'll spare posting them just because I'm sure some folks won't want to see them
A prosecutor in Poland has launched an investigation into whether a concert by the black metal band GORGOROTH has breached the country's law protecting religion. The Norwegian band are suspected of having sent a hateful and offensive message with their performance Sunday (Feb. 1) at the Krakow studios of Polish Television.
The show, which was to be filmed for an upcoming DVD, featured two naked women (with hoods over their heads) and one naked man, all of them "crucified" and covered in sheep blood, a number of sheep heads on spikes and sheep entrails thrown all over the stage, as well as approximately 80 liters of fresh sheep blood. During the performance, which was attended by an audience of 300, one of the models reportedly fainted from the lack of oxygen. The TV show's producers, who were not briefed in advance about the nature of the concert, were said to "shocked" by the activities on stage. The manager of the studio, Andrzej Jeziorek, notified the police and the recorded footage was confiscated by the authorities as evidence of a possible crime.
The TV crew, who had filmed various metal performances before (including those by CANNIBAL CORPSE, CHILDREN OF BODOM and ANATHEMA, among others), claimed in the Polish media that they had never seen anything quite as "horrific" as GORGOROTH's live show. "We were not repulsed, we were terrified!" the camera operators were quoted as saying by the Polish newspapers.
The concert promoters reportedly defended themselves by saying that all the people who came to watch the show were satisfied and none of them complained about having had their religious beliefs offended in any way.
a bunch 'o girls with expensive guitars!
what do you think??
My new Randall head is a 4 ohm head. My Mesa cab is an 8 ohm cabinet. No big deal cause I want to run 2 halfstacks anyways. Problem is, im having a hard time finding a 4 ohm cabinet. Will running a 4 ohm head into an 8 ohm cab hurt either the speakers or head??
Tone and Volume Pots - question??
What is the difference between a 250 and a 500 pot? Does it make much difference in the sound outcome? How important is the quality of the pot? I keep hearing complaints about the cheap korean pots and was wondering if it makes that much of a difference.

Damageplan, Mediocre......
by narcen on Thu Feb 05, 2004 10:41 am
I just listened to Damageplan's album and IMO its mediocre at best. Sounds kinda bland to me, definitely not of Pantera's calliber. I've seen no-name metal bands in dive bars sound just as good. I don't believe that Elektra would have put out this album if it weren't for the 'big name' members. IMO.

Progress on lon's strat body
well for those who do not know, a while ago lon sent me his neck thru guitar body for free....
Well i accepted it, and i totally did not know what i was getting into.... i mean, it isn't soooo bad now, but it was butt rape in a can getting most of the white paint off the body, and the neck.... the paint was some sort of epoxy, we figured that out by starting to strip the body and neck, we used citristrip, and it took lons krylon he sprayed on it off, and it took all the clear off the neck, but, it left a thick plastic-like finish on the guitar where lon hadn't sanded the paint off.... (BTW lon, you belt sand it?) soooo... after that... we decided to simply get a buncha diff. types of sndpaper (68,100,150,220,390,440) and we got to sanding.... well we started off with a 68 grit, after a lil sanding with that the "coating" started to come off..... so we stripped pretty much all of the paint on the body, neck, and hs., what you see is pretty much what is left... we still have to do some 68 grit sanding due to the fact that there is this epoxy stuff that is in the grain... you can see it as the spots on the guitar that are kinda lighter and whitish...
WHATS NEXT?
Well, what we are going to do next after we finish all this sanding.... is we are gonna take and plug up that huge farkin hole where the trem should be, and we are going to finish the whole guitar ( minus front headstock) in a satin urethane... i like the satin because it is smooth, but it isn't shiny, and it doesn't show fingerprints.... plus, IMHO natural only really looks good with a satin finish.... but yah.... well.. b4 we finish... we are gonna drill all the holes for the hardware and such..... but after we do, i'm gonna throw on the wilkinsin roller nut, schaller 456 bridge, prolly i will order all the electronics, and then i will throw on 2 nickel covered humbuckers i got... BTW... all this hardware i got from deanmaniac.... big thanks to him.... great guy... but oh yah..... (derr) i gotta find an HH PG.... hmm.... all the ones i am finding are a taaad spensive..... anyone got one laying around that they are willing to sell for a decent price? so yah.. thats it...
BTW... we sharpened the HS... we are now calling it "the singer killer"

Hey Everyone,
Just a note to let you know that part of my NAMM order landed yesterday and the rest should be here today. Exotic Spalted and Redwood Hardtails, Standard Flip Pearl import Hardtail, Collector quilt blue Hardtail #16, Blueburst Performer E acoustic/electric and a couple of more. Some are already on my site at www.basstreble.com and the rest will be up as soon as they arrive. Sorry for the self promotion. I just think you all need to see this stuff. The import Hardtail is cool!!!!!!!! Has the same case as the USA Standard Hardtail. Nice touch!

Anyone know where I can get a good tab?

Sorry bout the guitar sound.
Finally, my first DEAN Guitar!
I just got my Dean ML 79L yesterday. Oh man, I'd been
waiting for a long time to get this. It's not only my first Dean,
it's also my first guitar that I really like. I have two other
guitars and I bought them only because I'm lefty, so I
couldn't be picky. Nevermind, now I'm one of you guys;
The happily and proudly owner of Dean Family.
By the way, I know some of you guys own probably
20 Deans and probably thinking "What the fu*k? It's only
your first one?". Let me tell you this: If Dean had more ML lefty guitars, I'd definitely work my as* off to buy everyone of them.
P.S. Jim please check your PM.

Midi control pedals
by Hunter on Sat Feb 07, 2004 9:32 am
I have a couple of questions about midi controllers...
My band is going to be booking some gigs fairly soon, and we want to do some smaller shows first, doing our own sound from stage. Our singer wants to use a dedicated rack effect for his voice, and wants to be able to control it without having to fumble around with the front pannel of the unit... via a midi foot controller. The unit is a Lexicon MPX-110, and has a midi interface on the back (midi in and out), as well as a footswitch control input on the back of the unit. There is no D.R.O. (digital read out) on the unit itself, and the only functions that will work with the midi unit is a bank of "user presets" that can be programmed in.
The footswitch available from Lexicon will only control the bypass and "tap" function for the delay settings.
Will a midi footswitch D.R.O. work for this unit... thus being able to actually see what setting you have the unit on?...

BOGUS BLUEBURST Z ON HARMONY CENTRAL !!!
One of the DOA members called and asked for my help in verifying a so-called 1979 Blueburst Z on Harmony Central. It is bogus. He gave a serial number that is out of order for a 1979 guitar. He also said he has two and was offered a ridiculous amount for the pair ten years ago by the "Dean Museum".....I wonder where that is !!!When he sent pics it is clearly a '79 series Z from Ed Roman. Don't be fooled by this ad.
Floyd Rose wear
by Ziggy on Sat Feb 07, 2004 3:10 pm
My Jackson DK-2 FS is equipped with a licensed Floyd Rose trem.
I often rest my right palm on the trem while playing, and this has resulted in noticable wear on it.
The trem is black, but now the grey metal shines through on some places.
Anybody know if this can be fixed? Is there an easy way to restore the original finish?

Just did my biggest purchase ever
our new HOME!
I am psyched it took a long time to negotiate all the conditions and stuff and we are very reluctant about the delivery date.
They didn;t want to give us a fixed date since they are going to live in a to be byuilt house and don;t wanna be left without a place to live.
Which was quite unacceptable for us since we wanted a fixed date to focus on, all they wanted to give us was a 6 weeks after their house was completed!
Even THEIR real estate agent thought this was rather funny but he inquired for us with their builder and the hosue is almost for shure ready by the end of september this year.
Since this is such a nice house and very new (2001) and still has 7 years of warranty on building defects left plus teh neighbourhood is really fancy we decided to accept their terms but not lightly!
It has a really cool backyard on the southwest (really sunny in teh summer) not big but big enough, it's like 9 m deep (10 yards) and 5 wide...
fact is ground in overpopulated Holland is insane expensive espeacially since we live close to the city of Rotterdam, think like $ 2500 a square meter (approx a yard), so close to the city a garden is pure luxury, still tehse are the smallest houses in the neighbourhood!
All the rest are crazy big villa's and two under one roof homes....very expensive, but for us this is really cool.
Finally some real room to stash my gear and I can receive guests, I already invited smoe boardmembers to visit...I can't wait to have some of you over !
on the front there's teh entrance hall with a toilet and a stairs to the first floor, the living room at teh back(approx 30 square yards, with open doors to the back garden) and an open Kitchen (approx 20 square yards) annex dining room on the front next to teh front door.
on teh first floor we have two big sleeping rooms (could be made into three) of approx 15 square yards each (yup that is quite decent here in Holland) and a small bathroom.
hen we have the attic which is now in use as a third big room since it has a window on the back of the house the attic is really nice and spacey to stash stuff of make it into a guest room!
here's a pic of the front.
Great band! they incorporate melodic guitar and some keys into great death metal. i am referring to their awesome old material, im not into their new stuff. Their two best albums are North From Here, and Shadows Of The Past. For those who dislike death metal vocals, (these arnt like nile, CC ect hah) check out the song
"Mythic Silence (as they wonder in the mist) " it is a great instrumental
What kind of finish is it?
by Myztro on Mon Feb 09, 2004 2:36 pm
I just ordered a new Exotica QSE (natural) but don't know if it has a Lacquer or polymer finish. I know that Laquer is better but can also be more vulnerable to damage. While I'm on the subject of damage - Does anyone know what the potential of OVER humidifying a guitar with a case humidifier would be?
Take your Kitty along with you to DOA III ....
I couldn't resist... and I have two cats!
hey folks.
you'll never guess what happen!! my car died and a week later my computer died!!! what a kick in the pants!!!! any who I think the car is DOA and the computer needs a wipe and reinstalled! beside all that Kristy and I are doing really well. How is every one?
Cracked binding!!?? Is this a problem????
Hi guys,
Is it a problem when as a result of humidity changes, the frets crack the fretboard binding?? I see how on some guitars.....the fret ends come into the binding and crack the binding. Is this the sign of poor craftmanship or just poor guitar care? My friend's '99 LP has this issue and of course it is worse in the winter. He said he bought it used and it was like this in the shop most likely because they never controlled the humidity or oiled the fretboard. Is this common? Just cosmetic? His guitar sounds awesome and plays like a million bucks though.
Funny though, my 2001 Dean Evo Deluxe has binding and I had issues this year where the frets were really sticking out and I tried everything from the damp cloth in the case to a humidifier. But, still I have no cracks on the Evo. Why some guitars??
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
My drummer had these on a disc, so I decided to upload a few...

Stupid guitar stores [rant on]
by NickM on Tue Feb 10, 2004 1:45 am
So i went to the guitar store today to get some picks, and the store didn't carry the normal shaped green Tortex picks, only those "fin" picks. So I spent $1.50 on bus fare, and they didn't have the freaking picks. The only way to get them is to go down to down town Vancouver to get them, and that takes a long time. The store I went to only has the crappy ass picks with the stores name on them, and they wear out really fast. They're not even the right shape, it's like they were made by Stevie Wonder. No wait, James Brown.
GEEZ!
and it's late and my throat hurts, and I'm feeling sick. And I don't have my $9.75 worth of picks I wanted. And my tooth hurts. And I'm hungry. And I want ice cream.

Limited Run : $16, 556
Unlimited Run : $9, 456

Hey and get this. The only difference between the limited and unlimited models is that the unlimited has a Tom Murphy-ised finish and the limited edition has a custom authentic finish whatever the hell that means. Them's crazy prices. I sometimes wonder how Gibson salesman can keep a straight face when discussing their pricelist...
New Dickinson album in the works
Amidst IRON MAIDEN's Dance Of Death world tour, frontman BRUCE DICKINSON has been secretly putting together material for the anxiously-awaited full-length followup to his highly-praised Chemical Wedding release (from 1998). Dickinson and guitarist/producer Roy Z have been working on a number of songs including a track that was meant for the much-hyped THREE TREMORS project (which also featured JUDAS PRIEST frontman ROB HALFORD and QUEENSRYCHE singer Geoff Tate). Dickinson says three songs total have been written and to expect the album in late 2004/early 2005.
I'm psyched - Accident of Birth and Chemical Wedding crush anything Maiden put out after Powerslave!
But they want more cash than I paid for my last car. {and it was a good car}

Guitar and amp. As we all know my guitars come and go every week it seems, and I've had probably 5-6 different smaller amps, but this Fender M-80 80 watt combo is so much better ( and exponentially louder) both clean and dirty than anything I've ever had. The guitar is a 99 Squier Standard strat that has a Duncan JB in the bridge. I've always been lucky finding nice looking maple necks, but this one looks like one of those Warmoth ones that cost a fortune. Lots of tiger stripes on the back and front. This little setup is way more sound than I need, and I can't wait til summer to annoy the neighborhood! Last summer they heard my little Fender 25 watter a block away at the fire station........this summer I'm shooting for the edge of town! Yeah it's a small town, but I think I can do it.

For the Star Wars fans out there
The most requested films for the DVD format will finally become a reality this September as Lucasfilm Ltd. and Twentieth Century Fox present the eagerly-awaited Star Wars Trilogy for the ultimate home entertainment format. The four-disc collection will be released on September 21 in the U.S. and Canada, with international release dates following closely.
"We know how long fans have waited for this release and how much they have been looking forward to it, so everyone has been working overtime to make sure that the Star Wars Trilogy on DVD is an awesome experience," said Jim Ward, Vice President of Marketing and Distribution for Lucasfilm Ltd. and the DVD collection's Executive Producer.
Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and Episode VI: Return of the Jedi will be available in a four-disc set that includes a bonus disc filled with all-new special features -- including the most comprehensive feature-length documentary ever produced about the Star Wars saga and never-before-seen footage from the making of all three films. Each of the three films in the Star Wars Trilogy has been digitally restored and re-mastered by THX for superior sound and picture quality.
"First and foremost, the DVDs will deliver the very best possible sound and picture and take advantage of everything the medium can offer. On top of that, we are creating added-value material that gets inside the creation of the Star Wars films in a fresh and fun way," Ward said. "We want watching this DVD collection to be as memorable as seeing the movies for the first time."
The films of the Star Wars Trilogy will be available exclusively as a collection and will feature Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround EX. All three films are closed-captioned and subtitled in English, French and Spanish in the U.S. Internationally, sound and subtitling specifications will vary by territory.
Keep checking starwars.com over the coming months for more specific details about the content of this must-own DVD set.

Hey guys. I finally figured out how to get my board online. Here's a link
There's a board about guitars and friends, and most of you fall into both categories, so you're all invited. I will, however, ask that you keep problems with others from other boards to yourselves on mine. Thanks for understanding. Hope to see you there!

by Dischord on Wed Feb 11, 2004 10:02 am
Of all these songs I'm trying to get up, only two will have a bassline (yep, I said two, cause I played it on one of 'em hahaha and Andy the other, of course the one Andy plays bass on I'm drumming, so go figure lol)
If you're a bassist (you know who you are) I'd really like to hear you guys pop some basslines on these songs to hear what it would sound like...me and Andy were really innovating in our stuff because we had no bass for bottom end, so we usually complemented each other using fifths, sevenths, and octaves to give more depth to each song. When you hear it you'll know what I mean.

KICKASSS NEW VENOM ALBUM!
VENOM Begin Work On New Album - Feb. 11, 2004
British "black metal" pioneers VENOM have commenced work on the follow-up to 2000's "Resurrection", according to a post at the VENOM fan site Site Of The Hydra. "Cronos and Antton have arisen from Darkest Hell, and are due to start rehearsals and record new demos, etc, in the coming weeks. As ye freaks will know, this album would have been released two years ago but for Cronos being injured during a climbing accident during February 2002. So apart from the terrific news of a new album, this also confirms that Cronos has almost recovered from his injuries, and is raring to go!! This enforced layoff has left Cronos and VENOM tearing at the leash to return, and give all us Legions the next installment of 21st Century Black frackin' Metal!!"

Ebay ethics / rules etc...
I posted this under the "BB no reserve thread"... but I feel it deserves it's own topic.
Tough subject here... and I don't want to piss anybody off, but I think it warrants discussion. I really don't like the fact that an auction can be pulled at the last minute just because the seller didn't get his price. I also don't like the fact that a buyer can pull out of an auction at the last minute. These are flaws that exist in Ebay IMHO. If these are permitted there should be at least some rules governing the time in which you can "bail" so to speak. Seconds before an auction is unacceptable. Hours may even be unacceptable... but nevertheless a restriction should be in place.
Photography 101
by Lon on Thu Feb 12, 2004 10:10 am
I'm no photography expert. But with a good digital camera I'm allright. Let's hear all your tips and tricks for good web photography. I've stated a couple of mine. If you don't have a red pool table and generous light, you may need some help to maximize your photos. Outdoors on a sunny day can be good, but natural light can also really soften a photo. For other than optimum lighting conditions we need some help. Most of us have figured out that household light bulbs show yellow on a photo. First thing is to get some sort of photo manipulation software. I have Photoshop 7 but realize it's an expensive program that most can't afford. My son downloaded it off the net though so.......Next I'd say try and use a digital cam with at least a 2.0 megapixel rating, more if you can. Backgrounds are important too. Too much junk in the background takes away from the object....your guitar. Also try a contrasting background color or design. Shooting a black guitar while it's in the black lined hard case is not a good idea. Black guitars can be especially tough to photograph due to reflections and the fact that any little imperfection or fingerprint shows up. Trial and error on that. Anyone else?

This test only has one question, but it's a very important one. Please don't answer it without giving it some serious thought. By giving an honest answer you will be able to
test where you stand morally. The test features an unlikely, completely fictional situation, here you will have to make a decision one way or the other.
Remember that your answer needs to be honest, yet spontaneous.
You're in Florida...In Miami, to be exact... There is great chaos going on around you, caused by a hurricane and severe floods. There are huge masses of water all over you. You are a CNN (or Newsweek, Wally!) photographer and you are in the middle of this great disaster. The situation is nearly hopeless.
You're trying to shoot very impressive photos. There are houses and people floating around you, disappearing into the water. Nature is showing all its destroying power and is ripping everything away with it. Suddenly you see a man in the water; he is fighting for his life, trying not to be taken away by the masses of water and mud. You move closer. Somehow the man looks familiar. Suddenly you know who it is-- it's George W. Bush!
At the same time you notice that the raging waters are about to take him away, forever. You have two options. You can save him or you can take the best photo of your life. So you can save the life of George W. Bush, or you can shoot a Pulitzer prize winning photo, a unique photo displaying the death of one of the world's most powerful men.
And here's the question (please give an honest answer):
Would you select color film, or rather go with the simplicity of classic black and white?
This should keep some of you occupied for awhile...
A friend gave me this link, I just escaped! It's fun!

NO SPOILERS!
In the January 2004 Guitar One THAT I JUST GOT...on page 26...Jeffrey Ryan Smoots sportin' his seven string Evo?
Probably did, but I just thought I'd mention it.
Just got my first TC ML!!!
I just got my first Time Capsule ML (brazilliaburst 17/50) and I've got a couple of question for the pros:
1. The strings seem to have WAY more tension on them than on my Korean ML. My Korean plays like the strings are made of elastics (great for fast runs/bends/etc...). I was expecting the TC to be just as smooth or smoother, but it actually feels a LOT stiffer. I had it set up at one of the big shops around here and the guy said it's 'cause of how the guitar is built. I don't really buy that. Has anyone else ancountered the same stiffness/high tension problem?
2. Again, on my Korean ML I can get the action nice and low with no buzzing, but on the TC, once the action gets anywhere near comfortable (and I'm not talking strings lying on the frets, here, I'm talking your standard, rock guitar set up) the buzzing kicks in. Are these guitars meant to be set up with higher than average action?
Obviously this guitar kicks the butt of my Korean, sound-wise, and I'm assuming it should play better too. How come it doesn't? What can I do to solve these problems?
Thanks in advance for any and all help!

2002 BlueBurst Customs
by Baco on Sun Feb 15, 2004 3:36 am
Hello fellow Dean owners (and future owners). I recently bought 2 Time Capsule Blueburst customs from Dave at B&T and, simply out of curiousity, I'm trying to track down the rest of these BlueBursts (as you -may- know there are 25 of each made, that is 25 MLs, 25 Vs and 25 Zs). If you have one or know anyone who has one, feel free to mail me and send me some pictures. If you (or the owner) allows me to put your name on my BlueBurst Customs Tracker page (had to give it a name ) I'll do that. If not I'll only mark it as found or something like that.
I know some of you have one, but I won't put any names on the page unless you allow me to.
Hope you can/will help me out finding all of them.
If you check out my site, you'll notice I have a special menu item for this.
Thanks in advance guys!
So...who is the best..........
....looking female to you? With the jokes about Paris recently, just got me to thinking. Who is the best looking woman you've ever seen - the one if someone asks you pops right into your head. For me it's always been Heather Locklear. Now granted, there are better looking women out there - but when someone asks me who's the best - Heather always pops right into my head. I had such a crush on her in my highschool days when she was Sammy Jo on Dynasty. So, who's your favorate?? This really will be a beauty in the eye of the beholder thread!!
Anyone can tell me anything about 'Nashvegas'? How much should it cost in store, doesi t sound like a tele should? Anyone played on one?

Heya Bro's. For all those following my SG saga, I put the Angus Young Humbucker in my SG over the weekend and it yielded interesting results. Me and a tech buddy of mine performed the operation on Sunday, wired it one particullar way, it sounded the same as the old PAFfy humbucker, so we wired it another way and now it's pretty hot with a bit of an unexpected twang. I'm not really sure if I like it or not. The saga continues.
PS : Any valid comment and advice would be fantastic.
Now what have we got here?
this one looke better than the tropical Korean ML's...could this be a USA tropical Dime ML???
The body looks thick though...maybe a refinished ML-XT, but only 2 volume/tone pots??
I am confused!
New geetar and a question
by Lon on Mon Feb 16, 2004 8:45 am
I picked up this 86 USA Carvin DC100 over the weekend. Traded my Squier Standard Strat for it at GC. Suckers. Anyway, it's all original with the exception of the neck pup. Anyone have an Idea what this is? Looks to be some kind of P90 or something. It's a little longer than a regular hum so routing was needed, and it's also a little more narrow. It sounds great as well, very clean and crunchy at the same time.

I've put some new strings on my ML about an hour ago. After checking everything, I decided to tune the guitar. To my surprise, the fat e string shot out of the trem. Put new pups in my DOA Caddy - Man what a difference!!!

I put a set of Seymour Duncans in my DOA Caddy today - JB in the bridge and a '59 in the neck (with chrome covers of course ) It's like a different axe all together now. These pickups really compliment the mahogany body & neck - great harmonics & sustain too I'm a happy camper
I just saw the Jump To:{list forums here} [Go] thing this weekend.
would it be possible to either move that piece up (I would imagine it's a little java script) and have another instance of it underneath the [New Topic] instance at the top of the forum ?
I know it's pretty lame/lazy but I think it would get more use if near the top, no sense scrolling all the way to the bottom after reading a few new topics/replies at the top of the list.
Hey guys, I wanna help spread the word about this sweet new band from my hometown Chesapeake, VA. Cadillac Select vs. EVO Special Select
Nearly identical specs. Nearly identical price. Very similar body and neck.
Is the only real difference between these two guitars the larger headstock and horn on the Caddy?
I play a Trans Cherry Sunburst Caddy Select and it looks lonely and needs a friend. My local dealer has a beautiful Trans Amberburst Caddy Select in stock and a nice Tiger Eye EVO Special Select. He has given me the same great price for either one. Hmmmmmmmmmm.

UK paper The Times (www.timesonline.co.uk) have reported the following in the case of former JUDAS PRIEST drummer DAVID HOLLAND: "David Holland, the former drummer with Judas Priest, was jailed for eight years today for the attempted rape of a special needs teenager. The rock musician was convicted of one charge of attempted rape and five counts of indecent assault on the 17-year-old boy at the star's rural Northamptonshire. The youngster had visited Holland for drum lessons when the attacks took place between June and December 2002. Sentencing Holland, Judge Charles Wide, QC, said: "(the teenager) was a boy with a very, very troubled past. You planned this abuse by grooming his parents and him through the careful construction of the opportunity to abuse and the common factors of detaching a boy from his parents by giving him cigarettes, alcohol and porn." Holland, 55, of The Green, Stoke Bruerne, Northants, was convicted by a jury of seven women and five men at Northampton Crown Court on January 23 this year. Judge Wide added: "You must never work with children again."

Subject: Aging
A couple in their eighties are having problems remembering things, so they decide to the go the doctor for a checkup. The doctor tells them that they are physically okay, but they might want to start writing things down to help them remember.
Later that night, while watching TV, the old man gets up from his chair.
His wife asks, "Where are you going?" "To the kitchen," he replies.
She asks, " Will you get me a bowl of ice cream?" The husband says, "Sure."
She gently reminds him, "Don't you think you should write it down so you can remember it?"
He says, "No, I can remember that!" She then says, "Well, I'd like some strawberries on top. You'd better write it down 'cause I know you'll forget it."
He says, "I can remember that! You want a bowl of ice cream with strawberries."
She adds, "I'd also like whipped cream. Now I'm certain you'll forget that, so you'd better write it down."
Irritated, he says, "I don't need to write it down. I can remember that! Ice cream with strawberries and whipped cream!" He then grumbles into the kitchen.
After about 20 minutes the old man returns from the kitchen and hands his wife a plate of bacon and eggs.
She stares at the plate for a moment and says, "Where's my toast?"
I've got to get on a plane in a couple of weeks, and here in Australia there are very strict rules about what you can and can't take on an airlplane.
So here's my conundrum. On my right wrist I wear a thick leather studded band that has rusted with wear/sweat/whatever and I'm damned if I can get it off. You see, I can't get thru the metal detector with this on and I doubt I'd be allowed on wearing it. Now, I don't want to ruin it by cutting it, and I don't want to amputate, so do any of you fixit kings have a suggestion of how I can break up the rust?
So, Next month.

I'm going to Florida and I was wondering if the Dean address in Clearwater is just an office or if there is a showroom that I can visit. It would really make my vacation if I could see where it all goes down. Ya know what I mean?
I just made a decision...
I can't take this 212 combo crap anymore.
I am saving up for an ENGL head. {seriously, I already have $500 of it, and in another two weeks I should have $800}
I'm totally gonna live on ramen for this amp.
As most of you know, I play LOUD death metal, and I don't care about price, I'm only concerned with sound. I am throwing down a few thousand for a good stack and I need a little advise... {HANS!? lol}
FOR DEATH METAL>>>
{I want a loud crunchy stomping crisp amp with good lows}
Which ENGL head should I check out?
What kind of cabs should I use under it?
Is there another brand that I should really consider that has the quality of engl amps?
just bought time capsule 25th aniversary...nice.......
just went to gawk at that redwood topped hardtail and his site isn't loading and not pingable....... Hope all is well in Bass and Treble land!
Would anyone be interested in a Dean Baritone acoustic besides myself? Only a few making them like the Avante at musicyo.com but they are always sold out.

The Darkness/Pickup combo
hey all,
has anyone heard of a band called The Darkness? They're fairly new i guess, and they have a new song out called I believe in a thing called Love. I am looking for a pickup combo (2 humbuckers) that will give me the general sound and style heard in that song. Other bands I like would be Story of the Year, Yellowcard, Switchfoot, AFI, Lostprophets, just to name a few. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx,
Ryan
Anyone interested in the '80 V project
Since it did not sell on Ebay, is anyone interested in the 1980 Dean V project that I have? Most of u know the story on it by now, but it has had a broken neck joint and somebody repaired it. I paid $225 for it, and would be willing to take that amount to sell. It will take a lot of work and care but it could be rebuilt into something extra special. I know with u guys, and girls, it would go to a good, loving home and possibly be reborn as a full on rocker. Drop me a line if interested.
Thanks,
Aaron
Don's mp3's
by UF Dean on Wed Feb 18, 2004 1:40 am
Here they are, Don's music from his Dischord days. I haven't listened yet because I've been writing papers all day, but from the first few seconds of every song, they seem pretty good so far. Also, I'm gonna try to get the files set up like a soundclick type page or something so that those with dialup can actually listen. If it's not bad on dialup please let me know so I don't waste my time doing all that. Enjoy!

I need drum machine...help me please..
Hey can you guys recommend me any good drum machines that're worth to use? Please help me.... I need one right now.
I think that I'm gonna get this one. What do you guys think?
new PRIMAL FEAR ALBUM "DEVIL's GROUND"
is amazing,, I bought it yesterday and I am (again) blown away, the guitarists are SUPERB, much twin guitar work.
ralf Scheepers almost surpasses Rob halford, KILLER metal screams, not one moment becoming operatic always aggressive.
I was never too much into overly melodic traditional metal bu5t these guys are sooo good, some say it's a priest "painkiller" are ripoff, if so they do it with class...
The new drummer Randy Black (ex-Annihilator) is like a machine gun I always loved his drumming and he fits in very well with Primal Fear!
For you guys who wanna know how and ENGL amp sounds when pro recorded check PF!

Testament fans will dig this!
From the official website of Testament:
Testament is pleased to announce the addition of Paul Bostaph (ex- Slayer, ex- Forbidden, ex-Systematic) to the line-up. As most of you know, Paul is not a stranger to band; he filled in for the departed Louie Clemente in 1993 to help out with touring duties.
We apologize for the long period of time without an update. Unfortunately, "Blabbermouth" beat us to the punch as we were planning to make an official statement this week. The guys have been rehearsing for a few weeks now in preparation for the upcoming shows scheduled in March. They are also hard at work writing for the new record. We'll have more updates for you, so keep checking back. In the meantime, help us give Paul a very warm welcome to the band!
Here are statements by Paul Bostaph and Testament band members:
Paul Bostaph: "I am very excited to be doing the new record and upcoming tour with Testament. I have always been a fan of the band and respect their music. I had a blast the last time I jammed with them, and look forward to doing the record and more fun!"
Chuck Billy: "Sorry for the length of time between posts. It's definitely time for a Testament news update! We just completed construction on a recording room in our new studio. Everything is set up, and it is full steam ahead. After completing the studio and starting rehearsals with Johnny Tempesta, we got on a roll, but it was getting tough with the distance between LA and The Bay Area. At that point we knew we needed someone full time, and that is how Paul came into the picture. Paul was even Johnny's first recommendation. Johnny is still part of the family, and he knows I wish him well with Helmet. We've jammed with Paul before, and knew it would be killer if he could commit. After getting in touch with Paul, within a week he was set up, and has been rehearsing ever since. Things have been progressing quickly and amazingly. He is steam rolling through the old material and just as pumped as we are to be writing the new stuff. We have full confidence that it's gonna be KILLER! We do have shows in March and Europe in June. Our goal is to have it be recorded by the European tour in June. We have about 6 songs and Eric has a lot of great riffs that he and Paul are putting together. It feels good to have new songs, a new studio and a great vibe when we are jamming. Now that things are flowing, you'll be hearing from us more often!"
Eric Peterson: "The first time we jammed with Paul Bostaph was when we parted ways with Louie Clemente. We had to find a drummer the day before the first show in the States. Although Paul had just joined Slayer, he was able to do a month-long tour with us, and pulled it off with finesse. The tour with Paul resulted in a live EP called Return To The Apocalyptic City. I look forward to working with Paul on the new record as his style fits perfectly with old-school melodic thrash."
Steve Smyth: "It's good to be working with Paul again. I had a fun time jamming with him at "Thrash Of The Titans" with Forbidden Evil. I've always had great respect for Paul's playing, and look forward to doing the upcoming shows with him and much more."
KICKASS HALLOWS EVE REUNITE!!
Again another major 80's thrahs act reunite....the thrash revival is really taking place!
HALLOWS EVE Reunite! - Feb. 18, 2004
Steve Cannon, editor-in-chief of the world's oldest and longest running Internet-based music magazine Vibrations of Doom, has joined the reunited Atlanta thrash band HALLOWS EVE.
"It all started with an interest in getting an interview with HALLOWS EVE," explained Steve. "Tommy Stewart and I discussed what it would take to get this band back together.
"This has been a long-standing dream of mine, and to finally announce the return of Atlanta's first thrash band in history is awesome," he continued.
"Tommy Stewart returns on bass, and of course I am handling vocal duties. In addition, we welcome 'Tales Of Terror' album guitarist Skellator (now known as Skully) back into the fold. This is an exciting addition, as Skully has always been mentioned, but until today has NEVER toured with HALLOWS EVE. We have also been in contact with original guitarist David Stuart and may be adding him on board as well. A drummer that Tommy works with will complete the lineup.
"We've already had an offer to play a major music festival in March this year, but as we are unprepared, we had to turn it down. We WILL be playing shows in the Atlanta area and then will try to take to the road.
"As a footnote, I actually had a chance to audition with HALLOWS EVE before I moved to the Atlanta area, but was unable to procure a demo tape for the band. Now, over eight years later, the dream finally materializes and HALLOWS EVE will take the metal world by the throat!"
Little Melissa comes home from first grade and tells her father that they learned about the history of Valentine's Day. "Since Valentine's Day is for a Christian saint and we're Jewish," she asks, "will God get mad at me for giving someone a valentine?" Melissa's father thinks a bit, then says "No, I don't think God would get mad. Who do you want to give a valentine to?" "Osama Bin Laden," she says. "Why Osama Bin Laden," her father asks in shock. "Well," she says, "I thought that if a little American Jewish girl could have enough love to give Osama a valentine, he might start to think that maybe we're not all bad, and maybe start loving people a little bit. And if other kids saw what I did and sent valentines to Osama, he'd love everyone a lot. And then he'd start going all over the place to tell everyone how much he loved them and how he didn't hate us anyone anymore." Her father's heart swells and he looks at his daughter with newfound pride. "Melissa, that's the most wonderful thing I've ever heard." "I know," Melissa says, "and once that gets him out in the open, our Marines could blow the s#%t out of him."

Yep, that's right. I like the new EVO. I never thought I'd say that, but I really like natural guitars. And it's cheap too! Ahh, if only they made an ML or a Z like that. How much do those EVO's cost (street price)?
It's pretty cheap, I must say. My wah pedal cost $30 less than that guitar.

RIAA sued under gang laws
By John Borland
CNET News.com
February 18, 2004, 1:39 PM PT
It's probably not the first time that record company executives have been likened to Al Capone, but this time a judge might have to agree or disagree.
A New Jersey woman, one of the hundreds of people accused of copyright infringement by the Recording Industry Association of America, has countersued the big record labels, charging them with extortion and violations of the federal antiracketeering act.
Through her attorneys, Michele Scimeca contends that by suing file-swappers for copyright infringement, and then offering to settle instead of pursuing a case where liability could reach into the hundreds of thousands of dollars, the RIAA is violating the same laws that are more typically applied to gangsters and organized crime.
"This scare tactic has caused a vast amount of settlements from individuals who feared fighting such a large institution and feel victim to these actions and felt forced to provide funds to settle these actions instead of fighting," Scimeca's attorney, Bart Lombardo, wrote in documents filed with a New Jersey federal court. "These types of scare tactics are not permissible and amount to extortion."
Scimeca is one of a growing number of people fighting the record industry's copyright infringement campaign against file-swappers, although few have used such creative legal strategies.
According to the RIAA, which filed its latest round of lawsuits against 531 as-yet-anonymous individuals on Tuesday, it has settled with 381 people, including some who had not yet actually had suits filed against them yet. A total of nearly 1,500 people have been sued so far.
The industry group says that "a handful" of people have countersued, using a variety of claims.
"If someone prefers not to settle, they of course have the opportunity to raise their objections in court," an RIAA representative said. "We stand by our claims."
Few if any of the cases appear to have progressed far, however. The first RIAA lawsuits against individuals were filed more than five months ago, although the majority of people targeted have been part of the "John Doe" campaigns against anonymous individuals this year.
Several individuals and companies have started by fighting the RIAA attempts to identify music swappers though their Internet service providers (ISPs).
The most prominent, known by the alleged file-swapper's screen name "Nycfashiongirl," resulted in at least a temporary victory for the computer user. A Washington, D.C., court ruled in December that the RIAA's initial legal process for subpoenaing ISP subscriber identities before filing lawsuits was illegal. Because "Nycfashiongirl" had been targeted under this process, the RIAA dropped its request for her identity.
However, that may have provided only a temporary reprieve. According to the Electronic Frontier Foundation, a civil liberties group that is closely following the RIAA's campaign, the Internet address used by "Nycfashiongirl" was included in the batch of lawsuits filed on Tuesday against anonymous individuals, raising the likelihood that she will be drawn back into the courts.
Separate attempts to fight subpoenas are ongoing in North Carolina and St. Louis, where the American Civil Liberties Union and ISP Charter Communications are respectively challenging the RIAA's information requests.
In San Francisco, computer user Raymond Maalouf has taken the first steps toward fighting the RIAA's suits. His daughters were the ones that used Kazaa to download music, and one of them even wound up in last month's Super Bowl advertisement for Pepsi's iTunes promotion, which featured a handful of teens caught in the RIAA dragnet.
In documents filed with San Francisco courts, Maalouf's attorneys noted that downloading through Kazaa was openly discussed at Maalouf's daughter's school by teachers, and they downloaded songs used in classes. That should be a protected fair use of the music, the attorneys said.
At a status conference held in San Francisco early in February, Maalouf's case was just one of five RIAA lawsuits moving through the courts together, attorney Ted Parker said. However, several of those others involved defendants who appeared close to settlement, he added.
Even RIAA critics look at Scimeca's racketeering-based countersuit as a long shot. But it's worth trying, they say.
"It is the first I've heard of anyone attempting that," said EFF legal director Cindy Cohn. "I guess that is a silver lining of the fact that the RIAA is suing so many people, that there are a lot of lawyers trying to figure out ways to protect folks."
DamnRight!!!
After his death, Osama bin Laden went to paradise. He was greeted by George Washington, who slapped him across the face and yelled angrily, "How dare you attack the nation I helped conceive!"
Then Patrick Henry punched Osama in the nose and James Madison kicked
him in the groin. Bin Laden was subjected to similar beatings from John Randolph, James Monroe, Thomas Jefferson
and 66 other early Americans.
As he writhed in pain on the ground Bin Laden groaned, "This is not what
I was promised!" A booming voice entoned "I told you there would be 72
Virginians waiting for you! What did you think I said?"
Just got home from my first live gig in about a YEAR! Our band 'Manifest Electric' played this stupid gig with a couple of other indie bands but it was f**kin kickas$ coz a crowd turned up and everyone was drunk and they seemed to dig it. Best amp review yet by an employee at my local music shop
I'm currently shopping around for a new head and been checking out what the local places have to offer. I hit one this afternoon and they just got in one of those GenzBenz El Diablo heads. I haven't played through one yet, so I figure I'll give it a shot.
I ask one of the employees there if anyone has given it a good testing yet and how does it sound.
"It lights up real cool when you turn it on." he turns it on with no cabs or anything plugged into it "See?!?"
Aye - that it does.
Now it's time to choose one album....
that boils your blood the most.
My choice is Machine Head's Burn my Eyes.

Since his death, I have been thrown into a state of utter confusion, frustration
and hopelessness by the present civilian administration.
I have been subjected to physical and psychological torture by
thesecurityagents in the country. My son Mohammed was under detention
arraigned before the federal high court of Nigeria for an offence he did
not commit. Though he has been released since on the 23rd of
september,2002 based on certain conditions, but he is not allowed to
move around to any where.
He has been restricted to his own town only and also been placed under
the government watch. I want you to view this publication for a better
understanding. As a widow that is so traumatized, I have lost
confidence with anybody within the country. You must have heard over
the media reports and the internet on the recovery of various huge sums

The Dean Baby Rescue Project
Greetings fellow guitar fiends!
As some of you know, I have recently completed the refin on my Baby V... {though pix of this quality don't show how great this finish really looks... the purple ghost flames are STELLAR in natural light}
As you can see, I went with a more radical approach on this guitar.
Since I've got that all back together, I am now tearing into my Floyd Rose Baby Z, which needs a resto really bad. {you have no idea how loud the finish was crying for help before I started putting it out of it's misery.}
Now for the fun part...
I want no say in what this guitar becomes...
This guitar's resto is totally up to you Deaniacs!
All you guys have to do is post what type of finish this guitar should sport.
I am also taking suggestions for hardware/electronics upgrades.
When the most popular ideas make themselves apparent, I'll post the top 5 concepts in a poll for final decision.
Help me make this guitar kick ass...
I'll post progress pics, and some nice high-res ones upon completion.
Let the ideas swarm!

Well, after realizing that I don't know any theory, can barely use my pinky, and have a tough time learning anything but the intros to songs, I've decided that I'm just gonna forget what I already know and start over, learning the right way...I'm starting with just going up the strings back and forth a few minutes a day, 5th, 6th 7th, and 8th frets, blah blah blah. Cyberfret is my new best friend...maybe by the time I get to DOA I'll know how to play an Am chord again

Tough task
by A.D. on Fri Feb 20, 2004 3:49 pm
Well, we had to let our 2nd guitar player go this week. We added him about a year ago to fatten up our live sound and to let me put my guitar down for a few songs to just sing. To make a long story short, our playing styles were too different. It just was'nt clicking. I've worked in production management and have had to fire employees in the past. But let me tell you, nothing I've ever had to do was as tough as this. The four of us are like brothers and I had to tell one of them that he was'nt going to be joining us on stage anymore. The look in his eyes just ripped through me. It was as if someone told him that a loved one just died.
Well, as hard as this was to do the show must go on and we're playing tomorrow night without him.
Sorry to bore you all with this. This is a place where I feel comfortable and I had to type these words to help me get through it. Thanks.
A.D.
Is it just me, or is this forum dying?
I remember slumps in the past on this forum where things would be slow for awhile. But it seems like ever since the old forum crashed, things are just stagnant. There usually aren't more than 3-4 people online at the same time...sometimes I've been here all by myself, which never happened before. And the content seems to be less and less guitar-related.
I've also noticed that in the "Vintage Deans" and "New Deans" section, sometimes there won't be any new posts for days at a time.
Anyway, I'm not complaining, but I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed this, or if I'm imagining things?

Your history with Dean?
by Ziggy on Fri Feb 20, 2004 8:10 pm
When and where did you first hear about Dean guitars?
It's actually just under a year since I first was introduced to this brand (by Bernt). Had I just known 2 months earlier, the guitar in my hands would have been a Dean, not a Jackson...
($850 is surely enough for a Korean made Jackson.... )
My next purchase will definately be a Dean.
Only problem now is how I'm supposed to afford both the DOA ML AND the Vendetta 4.0 (Geeeez, I love that guitar!!!)

Quilted Exotica with Wooden Dot or cross inlays ?
by gjg59 on Sat Feb 21, 2004 7:28 pm
I played what I thougth was an Exotica that had a light brown quilted Maple body, and either Dot or cross distinctive "wood inlay" (not tree of life, actual wood in the fretboard), instead of Pearloid inlay. It was about $479 new It was not thinner like the PQSE I asked about.
Does anyone know which guitar this was? It was like taking an Exotica and making it a "Warmer, woodsy looking guitar".
I can't find it on the site. Can someone help?
What riff made that breakthrough in your playing?
What riff did you stumble on, learn, or otherwise just sit down and huff out whether someone else's or one you had in your head that improved your playing ability and gave you that breakthrough you were looking for when you went to write your own material?
For me, it was King Diamond's Eastmann's Cure opening (and chorus) riff:

If you will note, if you play this piece in time with the music AND correctly, you will have to use your pinky A LOT...
Bribery will get you everywhere (guitar porn)
Yep, here's the pic of me and Steph, she's playing Mark's (Lewnworx) 25th Anniv. TC Caddy, and me, I'm playing her EVO...
Anyone with photoshop care to enhance this pic, maybe resize it too? Make it look better?
Checked this place out personally.....
A while back someone posted a wiring diagram from guitarelectronics.com. I was surprised when I went to their website and found out they were right here in Phoenix. I needed some stuff for my tropical ML that I bought from Dana so I decided to check them out and paid them a visit. I have to say, I was impressed. They had a huge assortment of pickups, parts, guitar bodies, etc in stock right there in their store. The prices seem reasonable and one of the guys from their luthier shop (yes they do everything but paint) spent lots of time with me explainiing the finer points of wiring pots and was very helpful. I have absolutely no ties to these guys but would recommend them if you need parts and want to buy them on the web. It's hard sometimes to know who is reputable when buying things on the web. Just thought you guys would like to know.

Need more practice, so I thought this is the place to get input. I know there are tons of websites dealing with this matter, but I'd rather receive tips from my fellow board-members.
Dischords King Diamond riff was fun, and that's what I'm talking about.

New Pickups In The Hardtail - With Sound
by Jeff_H on Sun Feb 22, 2004 12:18 pm
I was reading the thread about the forum kind of dying out and not having enough guitar related threads....so here we go with a purely guitar and tone related thread. Let me start by saying that I am a die hard Seymour Duncan fan. There are other great pup builders out there, but for me SD is the top of the heap...my opinion only.
This Hardtail is the best playing instrument I have ever had the pleasure of playing. It just gets better and better the longer I play it and get to know it. With that in mind, I had really come to feel that the stock choice of pickups was holding back the true tone of this guitar. The PG was just too upper mid heavy in the neck for me combined with the mahogany body and maple cap, and the JB was just to compressed and hot. I got some great tones out of both of them, but not what I wanted for this guitar. The PG to me is brighter than say the 59' as a comparison.
I get great warm and rich tones unplugged, and felt that I lost that with the pups. My answer..........lower output pickups. I can get all the gain I need from my JCM 800 2205 and my modded SD-1, so why do I need a super hot pup to push it even farther? I don't.
I thought about a bunch of combo's 59'/59', Seth Lover Set, Antiquity Set, C5 bridge, ect. I really wanted something in the PAF range as far as output - to capture that classic rock sound thru VH type gain stuff. I don't play a ton of stuff heavier than that. So I finally decided based upon my favorite neck humbucker of all time -
APH II matched set. Same pickups Slash uses in all his LP's.
I had to special order them with nickel covers and since they were comming covered from the factory I got the option of having them in double cream - just incase I ever decide to remove the pickup covers. To say the very least I have been blown away by this change. The guitar is more open sounding, warm, articulate, smooth....just about everything I was looking for.
I had tried a Seth Lover in the neck before I received the APH's, and it was a great improvement over the PG - just not quite as smooth as the APH, but I could have loved it and kept it with no problems. Anyway, long story short, the low output vintange flavor of these pickups is just what the doctor ordered for me.
I have a few soundclips if anyone is interested. I'll list them below and what pup and amp was used for each. Most of these clips were recorded with my Boss GT-6 directly to Acid Pro. Just the pup clips have no editing effects on them. Just a little verb from the GT-6.
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/4/jeffhaggardmusic.htm
"APH Matched Set" - clean (Fender Twin Reverb Model) just a little reverb. Starts out neck pup, switched to both and then to bridge....you can hear me switch position. I wanted to illustrate the diference in sound on the same clip. OD (Soldano SLO 100) had delay and chorus from the unit. It stays really articulate - this clip is bridge position only.
"Plush" - Recorded with the JB bridge thru a 1959 SLP model. Chorus, flange and delay. All JB.
"PG (neck)" - blues clip thru the JCM 800. Just a little reverb.
"Seth (neck)" - same tune as the PG, but with the Seth of course.
"Heavens Door" - originally recorded with my double fat strat CC/APH combo (1959 SLP model). CC for distorted rythym and APH for clean and leads. I re-recorded just the 2 leads last night with the Hardtail and the APH neck and punched them in. They sound a little fatter and fuller with the Hardtail.
I know this was a long read....but tone and music and sound is what we're all here for. Thanks for listening and pardon the sloppy playing.
Peace.....Jeff
Active vs. Passive pups
by UF Dean on Sun Feb 22, 2004 3:51 pm
Well, since we're finally back to talking about guitars on this forum I decided, hey why not lol. I have always wondered and never really understood what the actual difference between active and passive pups is. Right now all I know is that passive pups give you an extra switch to play with, so please treat this as a newbie question and explain thoroughly if possible. Thanks guys!
Strat rebuild project (non-pointy post)
by kevphol on Sun Feb 22, 2004 5:03 pm
Here's some guitar talk for anyone interested! I am rebuilding my 80's Schecter strat. I've already stripped everything off except tuners (pic below). The previous config. was Schecter single in neck and middle, and a Duncan stack hum at the bridge, with the standard 1 vol and 2 tone knobs. It also had an original Floyd Rose trem and a locking nut.
I am replacing the Floyd with a vintage Fender style trem, and putting graphite saddles on it. I'm not a big whammy player anyway. Replacing the lock nut with a roller nut. New pickguard will be a S-S-H config. In the neck and middle I'm putting Lace Hot Gold pickups.
At the bridge is where it gets interesting. I'm going to mount the Lace Hot Gold 13K bridge pickup right next to the Duncan stacked Hum in the Hum slot on the pickguard. Together they should like like one humbucker. I'm replacing one of the tone pots with a blend pot to blend between the bridge Lace single and the Duncan hum.
So, what I hope to end up with is noiseless single coil tone for the neck and middle, with a unique combination of a hot single and a double at the bridge that I can tweak with the blend pot.
I know its not a "DEAN", but check this out: www.music123.com/contest/lespaul_serial1.aspx Its supposed to be valued @$3398
Is Finger-Ease okay on my HardTail?
Hey everyone-
I'm a new guy here. I just got myself a HardTail last week and I like it a lot. I was wondering, I use a lemon oil mix to keep my other guitar's fretboard nice and shiny. However, my other guitar was not NEARLY as expensive as the Dean so I thought it would be best if I asked around here before putting it on my Dean. Also, I use Finger-Ease on the strings and the back of the neck on my other guitar...is this going to be alright on the finished neck and ebony fretboard of the HardTail? Any responses would be great. Thanx in advance.

Ok, now THAT had to get you looking.
So much for this "no guitar related posts" whining.
Ok, I've finally squeezed enough free time to get the cad and PCB stuff done.
Here's the layout for the top routing for the RMC saddle lines feed through the top:
The holes to routes are the 6 little ovals just above the top of each screw. After factoring saddle travel for intonation they work out to be 0.320" long, and 0.095" in diameter. The actual lines that go through them are 0.063" in diamter.
I'm still working on the control cavity layout and will post that when done.
Now HERE's the part I've been waiting on for almost a month:
This little guy is the first board that will go in the guitar. It was a tough layout, since the "length" (wide side in photo) will span the entire control cavity, leaving about 0.038" clearence on each side.
The metal pin things are the only part I could find that I could get a header for that would still fit in the cavity. The big honking connector on the top right will go away before it gets intstalled (that's a test connector for the communications stuff).
The various pots and switches will hook up to the pins on the board, and all that control info will get multiplexed over a modified RS-485 bus and decoded by a box at the other end of the "guitar" cord.
That box will hook up to a midi interface and feed info to both my Logic system on the computer and the VG88.
There's another board that piggybacks under this guy that will handle the preamp, line buffering and eq for each of the 6 RMC saddles. The holes in the corner of the board will sit on top of standoff's that hold the board just a hair under the control cavity cover.
And for the curious..
The processor is a Motorola 68HC711D2, which is in the same family of the proc's used on the first generation Macintosh computers, which if one thinks about it is a fair bit of horsepower to put in a guitar to run a bunch of I/O stuff. I've still got a bunch of code to write to get all this to work, but the board works fine and passes all the diagnostics with flying colors.
More to come as I get it done.
Just got back from a Mongomery Gentry / Trick Pony concert. I know most of you are Rockers but I like a little of everything. Anyhow, The concert was great. Montgomery Gentry has some good drinking / party songs and a great T-Shirt that says "Hell Yes. Turn it Up, Right On". Kinda fits this group. (also the tour is sponsored by "Jim Beam".)
Heidi, the cute girl singer from Trick Pony, was great. Never knew anything was wrong until the last song. (it was a song written for her mom) Her mother died two hours before going on stage. What a professional to go on after that news.
For the Zappa fans - little flash animation I ran across
http://www.asparagusproductions.com/yellowsnow.htm
enjoy
Okay, so I was watching Fuse on Saturday night and caught the video by Fireball Ministry.
At first I'm just taken with the fact that the lead singer is playing a Dean V (and I'm not sure, but the other guitarist might've been playing a Dean too.) But then the more I listen, the more I'm thinking that these guys rock.
So yesterday I do what I never do these days: Buy the CD without finding a way to listen to it first, which usually turns out to be a mistake.
No mistake here. "The Second Great Awakening" is a great CD. Almost old school in its sound...James Rota (singer/guitar) sings incredibly well...almost sounds Ozzyish at times. None of that Satanic yelling that's so prevalent in today's metal. He actually sings...and you can understand everything he's saying.
Anyway, if you like old Priest, Maiden, Ozzy, AC/DC, etc, go pick this up. Well worth it.
Baby V mods...
by mpire on Mon Feb 23, 2004 9:38 am
Took Phantom's lead and did a little surgery of my own on my copper baby V.
Originally was just going to put a Duncan Full shred in the bridge, when I got to putting it in the spring-screws were thicker than the duncans use. No problem as I have plenty from Duncans, but it reminded me of a Lawrence K-500C neck pickup I picked up off ebay a while back but couldn't use because the screw holes were too big for anything (I thought) I had...
First interesting problem, the stock dean pickup wires are very thin (probably half the thickness of the wires out of the stock '79's or X's)
By comparison the lawrence is like a cantat, and that only has 2 conductors plus shield, the Duncan is thinner, but has 4 conductors plus shield.
Eventually got them both through, plus enough sawdust to make another guitar.
Second problem, the lawrence wire is very short.
I suspect it was cut so it was just long enough to reach.. In this case it was just long ehough, but I had to solder the ground to another part of the switch (no big deal since the switch was fully enclosed with a metal shield).
Fired it up and it sounds great. Much tighter sound than stock pickups, plus a lot hotter too.
In fact I could probably use the lawrence in the bridge..
Still not sure how much of a V-ist I am.. I got the baby V originally because my old band's rehearsal space was cramped, but now I really don't do a lot of standing up. When the Euro V arrives I'll probably do a comparison and get rid of one. hmm..
If anyone wants to do a straight swap with a new style baby Z for my baby V, please PM me (I would most likely put the stock pups back in)

Don't get a Screamin' Demon PU, they blow!
Just bought a Screamin Demon (George Lynch model Seymor Duncan) and installed it in my BC Rich ST3 and it sounded horrible, Immediately my buddy and I looked at each other in disgust. Sounded like a Dimarzio!!!!!! We did a back to back test with my EMG 81 equipped gunslinger, which is the same guitar withought the single coils, and there was no comparison. The EMG was pure heaven, and the duncan was garbage. Way to weak with way too much mids and just thick mud. I'm taking the duncan back for an EMG 81 today! We also plugged in my buddies EMG 81 equipped BC Rich stealth and it sounded exactly the same as the gunslinger. Awesome. This was coming out of a Mesa Boogie Quad preamp and a Mesa 2 Ninety power amp through vintage Risson 6x10 Jensen loaded cabs. They sounded sooooo good, we just were in heaven and in love with our(I guess that would be his tone and both of our guitars - but at home on my Crate VC50 it sounds just as awesome)tone.
Just thought I'd share that tidbit with you all.

Opinions on THD's Hot Plate....
by clmazza7 on Mon Feb 23, 2004 12:38 pm
I posted this on the old board and was looking to revive it to get all of your responses once again.
Have you had any experience with THD's Hot Plate? I'm once again considering buying one but was mainly concerned with whether or not it will cause damage to my amp in the long run. I'd hate to ruin my Rivera now that I'm quite literally hermetically attached to it!
I've used one in the past yielding great results.... I'm just concerned about the long term usage and what effects it may have on my amp.
Thanks!

OK you metalheads out there, let me tell you it doesn't get much better than this. I'm sitting here at the computer and from the other room I hear very nice clean blues rhythm coming from my 7 year old playing his Dean playmate acoustic! That's Daddy's boy! I wish I had started at his age. Hopefully he will stick with it!
The bad thing is they listed us as the "headliners" but we can't even play an hour.....and we never wanna play last....better play first then you can actually drink afterwards and watch the other bands HAHAHAHHAHA!

No Dean page, and mostly seems to be geared towards electronic stuff. But from what I just bought on ebay it seems accurate.
What cha think?

What's a good price for an old patent pending Cadillac. A guy from a local music store has one. I hav'nt seen it yet. He said it's a redish color and it's beat up. He's had it forever. He has'nt given me a price yet but he said he'd give it to me cheap.

Hey all- Has anyone here used this? I have a Dell Dimension 8250 and was looking into trying this. I've created a restore point before installation but I'm still a bit shy about pulling the trigger. Just thought I'd check here first. Thanks in advance.

How long...
by UF Dean on Tue Feb 24, 2004 4:27 pm
should I wait to open my Mach V without having to worry about checking? It came from Canada and I REALLY don't wanna screw this one up. Is it like a few hours or should I be waiting like 2 or 3 days?
Uncovered the car yesterday - and I made it snow again!
It was 45 and sunny out yesterday, so I uncovered the car, took her for a nice spirited drive. That's the 2nd time since November she has been out. And it must have noticed the cover was off and made it snow again today
Oh well, should have known better. 2 years ago when I picked it up in April - it snowed that night too. Bastages!
The Mach V
by UF Dean on Tue Feb 24, 2004 10:22 pm
Just came in. Here goes: It's in good shape but gonna need a refin. Missing one tone knob. Bridge is none that I've seen, but seems to be trem-ready. Pups were replaced at one point. Some jackass put a custom plastic pickguard on it...and I don't mean a nice Fender-type...we're talking about something that may have been a thin plastic folder at one point, and it's kept in place with a thumbtack. I'll be bringing it to DOA to see if anyone is willing to give me an estimate on what fixing it would cost, including refin, new cover for back cavity, etc. Pix here
Euro Premium Observations
by Scooter on Tue Feb 24, 2004 11:24 pm
I've owned a Euro Premium caddy for a while now and I have some observations.
-The maple top is drop-dead gorgeous - killer 3D flame!
-The neck is not too fat, not too thin, mmmmm just right.
-Ebony fretboard!!! (I don't think the USA's have that!)
-Fully bound with inlaid mop logo, and block inlays (1st fret too!)
-All German Schaller hardware (which I prefer to Grovers)
-The frets could use a /slight/ polish on the ends (not bad at all)
-The Duncan Pearly Gates pups really work well in this!
-Chicks dig the big headstock (if you know what I mean)
-I find very, very few "flaws" in the finish/craftsmanship (and I'm as picky as you can imagine).
I don't want to make any waves, but how can the USA model fetch 2-3 times the price of the Euro on the used market? In my opinion they are nearly equal.

Guitar assembly help. {p/u related}
Hey guys....
I need a little input from those of you that have a fair amount of pup experience. {I feel like such a newbie right now, but if you don't ask, you don't learn.}
My Baby V was easy, since the Dean logos are printed on the pickups... but I'm a little confused about this one.
Here's my Baby Z
My red ML's Bridge pu is dropped in the same, but the neck pu is black on top white on bottom as well. {the baby z's neck appears reversed by comparison}
Now the questions...
Which is correct?
Does it matter?
Is which corner the wire comes out at the defining factor?
Sorry guys, but I am just tearing into this stuff, and I was a little dumbfounded since there doesn't seem to be any standard.
Thanks

i always had a weakness for SG's and this one looke kickass....hmmm....I know that when i buy it I prolly end up selling it...
I did with all my NON DEANs sinec i have my TC's....but it's still a very nice looking axe!
the DOA should do another video giveaway...
Oh Dave...last time it was Spinal Tap...
This time I think it should be Pee Wee's Big Adventure...
Another classic movie that rocks! With cameos by Twisted Sister, Mothra, and Godzilla!!!
I have one question for the metalheads mainly
How can the worst album of 2003 turn over a grammy? St. Anger is the worst POS album I have ever heard, and it turned a grammy...I would have given Dave and Kip a grammy for their duet of Goodnight Moon before I would give it to such a lame album...
Too bad Jethro Tull didn't release an album last year I guess...
New guy questions
by Kragax on Wed Feb 25, 2004 1:19 pm
Is anyone familar with the Dean SD92? Are they still being made? Are they any good at all? And what tonal differences would you expect to fond between Select Evo and a Select Caddy?
Ok, who has a floor I can sleep on Friday night???
Well, before this goes any farther let me explain.... I started a new job about 3 weeks ago working 10-12 hours a day, add on that I have had a pretty bad head cold since last Wednesday and I bought a '66 GTO project car over the weekend the last thing I have had time to do is book a hotel room. So with that said, does anyone have a room I can shack up with them for Friday night for DOA. To be honest I totally forgot about DOA being this weekend until this afternoon. Let me know folks before I have to sleep in the car.
Completely OT: National Do Not Call Registry
by jim6 on Wed Feb 25, 2004 2:28 pm
Since we moved last month, we also had to change our home phone number. The onslaught of telemarketers has been heavy.
In case anyone is interested, the Federal Do Not Call Registry can be found at:
www.donotcall.gov
If anyone out here is a telemarketer by trade, sorry about posting the link. I'm tired of the calls, though.

Hey guys, finally I get to post something from my band. Bernt, you ARE HOLY!!
Ozz Clan stopped by....
by BTMN on Wed Feb 25, 2004 6:05 pm
and I think a good time was had by all. Set Ozzmom and Ozzdad up looking at some of my KISS/Aerosmith photos while I Force fed the ozz a ton o'tone. I put a '96 Hamer T51(tele), and Dean Czech Korina V in his ears and hands. His first comment about the V was the same as mine,"Wow it's light."
We broke out his Chinese Z X and blasted some Scorpions and Judas Priest on it. Tried to impart a lil Riffology in A on the boy too. The Marsha Mesa Combo I got cranked loves those type of riffs. Lookin' forward to meeting some more of THe DOA in town here. Never did put the P90 guitar in his hand so until next time........
Just wanted to take this opportunity to send maximum kudos to Anthony at Dean customer service. Anthony has treated me like a rock star in his dealings with me...and I know for a fact that he is going to do the same for you if and when you need his services. Thanks again Anthony...you have customer for life. Elliot...you product and service is awwsome!
Metal eye for the Lame guy
alright, I was struck with an idea earlyer at red lobster. I was talking to my girlfriend about Queer Eye for the Straight guy and I had the idea for...
Metal eye for the Lame guy....that's the best title I have so far.
Here's the deal,
there are 5 catergories Partaining to the 5 members in my band.
Food-
Culture-
Fashion-
Dancing- (which is a pretty form of moshing)
Interior Decorating-
Now if this is a below 70 IQ type idea feel free to shoot me down..I was just curious if the other metal heads out there wanted to throw any suggestions in.
So far it's gana be real...I'm gana find a "prep" (Non metal kid) to do this and video tape it. I don't want to stage it or anything.
yup......

"LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Radio station giant Clear Channel Communications Inc. said on Wednesday it was dumping nationally syndicated shock jock Howard Stern from its stations under a new "zero tolerance" policy toward indecency."
Clear Channel did this out of fear of being fined by the FCC for the often "offensive" content of Sterns’ radio show. In light of this, I'd like to take this opportunity to remind people that there is an easier solution to the problem of vulgar and/or indecent content on entertainment mediums than taking away peoples rights (Free Speech, Pursuit of Happiness, etc.). Located on your radio or television, there is a nifty little device in the form of a switch, button, or knob that enables you to change the channel/station that you are currently listening to, to another. You will find this remarkably handy in situations where you happen to consider the subject matter currently being displayed/discussed on the radio or television offensive. If, after trying several different stations or channels you still find yourself unhappy with the selection, you can opt to turn it off entirely with what is known as the ‘Power’ button.
For example: On the way home from work you’re listening to the radio (whichever station) when a White Stripes song happens to come on. You instantly become outraged by the outright stupidity of the mundane tune. But instead of reaching for your cell phone to call the FCC to file a complaint, you reach down and change the radio to a different station. This example also applies to what you would deem to be offensive radio talk shows or T.V. programming.
The benefit of doing this is that a.) Countless millions of tax dollars won’t be wasted by the FCC on policing entertainment mediums to ensure that any potentially offensive material won’t make it to air, b.) The rights granted to us by the U.S. Constitution won’t be compromised and c.) You won’t be regarded as an idiot by your fellow man for listening to or watching something you're not enjoying.
In closing and with tax season is rapidly approaching, keep in mind that it is our tax dollars funding the FCC to censor what we see and hear on television and radio. Put simply, we’re paying the government to tell us what we can see or hear. Isn't that a choice we should be able to make?

Just saw Bernt's new car today!!
Looks very suitable for a metalhead like Bernt, don't you think?
He told me he was even going to install a rack for that blue caddy bass on it.
Cool!!!
Is this the way you feel about Winter right about now?
